Akshara's Cloumn: All is fair in love and war!

Hi friends… Everyone in the family has tried talking to Rashmi about the divorce, but she is being stubborn and refuses to listen. Hence Naitik and I along with rest of the family have made a plan to bring Rashmi and Nikhil together.

Everyone from Gayatri ma, Naitik and even Daddaji have tried to make Rashmi realise that just because a married couple faces small problems, the solution is not simply to get divorced. But Rashmi gets upset if anyone tells her that she is wrong in opting for a divorce. Since we have been left with no choice, I have come up with an alternative plan to make Rashmi realise the importance of her and Nikhil's marriage. We do not like lying to Rashmi, but it said 'jab ghee seedhi ungli se nahi nikalti hai, toh kabhi kabhi ungli tedhi karni padhti hai.' We have decided that instead of opposing Rashmi's decision, we will support her and tell her that we will do everything that makes her happy, even if that means getting her a divorce.

Naitik and I have also pretended to fight in front of Rashmi, so that she understands that misunderstandings and fights happen in all marriages. The family has also assured her that they will support the decision she takes. In fact we have told Rashmi that in order to get a divorce, she will have to lie that Nikhil and his parents ill-treat her. Rashmi is reluctant to make these untrue accusations towards Nikhil and his family, which means that somewhere in her heart she cares about Nikhil and his family.

I am very sure that Rashmi does not genuinely want a divorce; this is only her way of trying to get Nikhil's attention. With our plan we will try to get Rashmi to voice out her inner feelings. She needs to understand that compromises and effort needs to be made to make a marriage work. We also plan to make Nikhil realise the importance of Rashmi in his life. I hope that our plan will be successful and Rashmi agrees to work out the differences between her and Nikhil.
