Is Ekta taking Mona for a ride?

I had been so excited to see Mona's comeback to acting after 6 years. Seeing the promos of KHTV made me think it would be a fresh, relatable show about a married couple rediscovering love after 11 years of marriage. Mona's interviews and all pre-release hype also created the same impression.
Now we are one month into telecast and the story has taken a 360-degree turn. It has become an out-and-out Ekta show with the EMA angle and the other woman being a "westernized, career woman". Mona is essentially playing a submissive housewife. It was not a role I had ever wanted to see her in.

If the coming episodes don't see Mona emerging as assertive and building her own life apart from hubby and kids, I will be disappointed big-time. Somehow I feel Ekta and Sony are just not interested in maintaining the quality of the script. They are just relying on Mona's star power and seasoned actors like Apara and Delnaz to pull it through. Seeing BALH made me think Balaji has changed , they are moving away from cliches to simple and sweet stories with a dash of humour. KHTV does have small doses of all these but the strong script is missing. After JJKN, KHTV is just not a show of the same calibre for an actress like Mona.

good post Blyti.. there are so many loopholes in the script, with the casting, with the daily presentation.. its liek Ekta was just waiting for mona to be on board and now has forgotten she has this show too..

i hope the cvs buck up and make necessary changes.. or else the show is bound to go downhill :((

EK got her hands in too many cookie jars PR, BALH, KHTV and movies..

She is really not doing justice to any of these shows..On and off we see lots of crap..

I always loved Mona as Jassi and now as Mona I want her character to be shown dimensions.
At present the character is still shelled with being really good seeing everything good and dose'nt have a clue what is hitting her. Even being a homemaker she can be shown various complexities in the character and at times she is shown , but somewhere something seems to be loose ends and imbalance, since Pradeps character is show so loose and disregarding Mona's character at many a times..

I hope to see Mona emerging Strong and get to see things clearer and that illusion at times maks the character a little weaker

After Jassi I hope the character Mona will give a greater impact to the audience.

I agree. Promos were refreshing but story is stale. :( My mother's always like, this show sucks, it's becoming a typical Ekta Kapoor show & I am like no, this show will improve and stuff.
