Every girl dreams of having a loveable husband, the husband who will love you for who you are, a husband who will keep you safe from evil eyes of people, a husband who will be by your side no matter what and just like every other girl I also had those dreams but they were shattered the day I married dev.

I always believed that love happens after marriage but to me it never happened. Dev never cherished his love upon me. He never appreciated anything that I do for him. I always had a dream that one day he will be a husband who will love me but 'Alas' I was dreaming of something which was not possible, at least not in my life time. My thoughts were broken as I heard Mrs Miter's voice.

Mrs. Miter She lives in our neighborhood. She comes to our house every evening with latest gossips. Recently her daughter in law give birth to a baby boy. She married a week after my marriage. I was working in the kitchen so I was listening to each and every word they were saying.

Mrs Mitre "It's been a year to your sons Marriage and still no baby. Did you have her check?

Pammi "It's just a year to their marriage; besides I think it's too early for check up. She is still young and can have a baby. "

Mrs. Mitre "you know Parma had same point of view for her daughter in law but when after three years she got her checked, she found out that she was sterile. All her dreams were shattered .I am telling you get her checked on time."

After Mrs Miter left I saw mum still setting there deep in her thoughts. I went to her holding a cup of tea in my hand. I put the tea on the side table and said " Pammi aunty your Tea." I was about to leave when her grave voice stopped me.

Pammi " come here " I went near here while she was looking at me as if I was some filth. Pammi "you will go to the doctor tomorrow for check up. I will tell Dev about it."

Geet "Just me and what about Dev? Is he getting a check up too? " she threw the tea on the floor and stood up. She slapped me across the face and I fell on the floor.

Pammi "How dare you say that when you know that only women are at fault?" before I could say anything payal my sister in law came running to me. She helped me in getting up from the floor. She worriedly scanned me making sure that I was ok.

Payal" Bhabi are you ok?" she worriedly asked me.

" hmmm I am fine." I told her while she turned too talked to her mother.

Payal" I think bahbi is right you should get bro checked as well? Every time Women is not at fault. "

Pammi "Payal! Don't forget he is your brother" She shouted her name.

Payal " what's the matter in getting him checked too?"

Payal was nowhere giving in and so Pammi aunty had to agree. After a hot argument Pammi aunty left for her room and Payal came to me and took me to my room. She was the only one in the house who would take care of me though she was two years older than me but was still unmarried because of Pammi aunty, she is looking for a really rich man for her that's why she would reject all the proposals that came for her.

It was not that we lack money or anything it was just the greed and hunger in her which was making her do this and I know that one day she will be punished for her greed because greed always force man on committing sins.

Payal"Are you sure bahabi you are ok? " payal asked me with concerned filled voice.

Though my cheek was paining but I maintained calmness in me and said "Yes Payal I am fine. Don't worry. You go and sleep, I will be ok." I assured her and she left for her room.

It was late mid night when I entered my home and butler came and informed me that mom was calling me.

I entered her room and saw her standing near the window facing her back to me. She gesture me to sit and I sat on the sofa.

Pammi"You are taking Geet for a checkup tomorrow and make sure that you get yourself checked up to."

I was really confused by her behavior and so I asked her "why should I? I mean you know I am a man I" before I could finish she said "you are going and that's final Dev and I want positive results. Now you can leave."

Sighing I left from her room.

I was sitting on a rocking chair in front of the window when I heard the sound of door crack open, I knew who it was. I stood up and looked at Dev who as I expected was furiously standing near the door.

He came near me and pulled me with my hairs. " aaahh" I screamed in pain as his hold on my hairs got tight.

Dev" What do you think of yourself? Hah?"

"wh what did I do?" I asked in cracked voice as tears started to fall from my eyes.

Dev "Didn't you ask for the check up?" he asked me as he threw me on the hard wooden floor, I could feel my arm bones cracked due to the fall. He took his belt out from his pants.

He was taking dangerous steps towards me and I was backing away from him. He splashed the belt on my already cracked arm and I cried out loudly "I didn't ask for anything" he splashed me again and said liar. He was about to splash again when I heard Payal call for him "Dev Bhai you have a call on the land line." He slipped back his belt into his pants and went out of the room.

I mentally Thanked Payal for saving me and went to the guest room where payal was already there with the first aid box.

She carefully applied ointment on my bruised arm and bandaged it. Sometimes I think if it wouldn't have been Payal I wouldn't have been alive.
