Part one-
Mumbai, 2012.
In one of the posh areas of Mumbai, in a beautiful, large locality, there was a series of stunning and huge bungalow houses. One such bungalow was a nice and comfy one. It was not rich and mansion-like yet was just enough and comfortable. The house was surrounded by a beautiful lawn, a driveway, a small walk around a corner leading to a nice pool. The gate was mechanically operated, and had a security guard. On the gate was the name plate- Shilpa Sharma Family. The house itself had a couple of balconies, some french windows, and a huge terrace on the top. Inside the house there was a series of steps, making the house two storeyed. It had lots of rooms, as the house often had important guests and visitors and parties.
The house had only two helps, a cook and a maid. They were not residents there, as Mrs. Shilpa Sharma believed that servants should not know everything about the house an the members here. She was always worried about security. There was also a driver as an emergency, but almost all the members knew how to drive and individually own cars. However they share cars so much that at times only three cars are used.
Mayank, Shipla's son was not a millionaire. He was just rich and well to do enough, ensuring a comfortable lifestyle for all. His mother was a divorcee and a successful woman who single-handedly grew her children up. She had sent her children abroad for their education.
Mayank and Gunjan were close siblings, three years of age difference between them. They loved their mother and always made sure that they all stayed together. They hated their father who left their mother for someone else.
Nupur and Samrat were Mayank's college friends. Nupur was of Mayank's age while Samrat a year younger to them. Nupur came from a refined and traditional family who believed in education and progress. Samrat was her closest sibling from among her siblings of five. Both she and Samrat are estranged from their family. Samrat is a son of a well to do businessman. After his parents' divorce, Samrat was sent to live with his cousin Nupur's family. The cousins are pretty close to each other.
Benji was their schooldays friend who shifted away to another city for college, leaving it in between to go abroad. He came back and joined them in their business. His family stays in another city.
Dia was Gunjan's bestie in school and college days. She was left at the orphange as a young girl. Rather than being called an abandoned girl child, she called herself an orphan. She does not have any clue as to who her family was.
In the house, the other members were the five year old twins Raj and Simran Sharma, named after Nupur's favourite characters. They are highly naughty children who loveto play pranks on anybody. The only person they really listen to is their Daadi, Shilpa Sharma.
They also have a big German Shepherd dog called Jiggers and a Black Labrador called Mike. The dogs lived in the house, on the ground floor, in Shilpa's bedroom. They were her dogs.
The story starts as an usual day in the lives of the members of this pretty house.
It was a Sunday morning. Shilpa was sleeping with her dogs on her bed. She was tired out after a week long travelling she had to do. Her jet lag symptoms coincided luckily with Sunday and she had decided to sleep, with instructions to her daughter and bahu that she was not to be disturbed.
But her sleep was disturbed. There was a rapid knocking on the door. Flustered, she looked the door, her eyes trying to register in the room. Suddenly with loud shrieks two little figures leapt on her.
Daadi!
Daadi!
Tu kab aayi!
Kal itna intezaar kiya!
Lekin tu humaarein bedtime ke baad aayi!
Kyon?
Haan kyon?
Tumko saza dena hoga!
Haan hoga!
Shilpa groaned.
Arre bacche, sone toh do! Baad mein gifts dungi!
Nahi!
Nahi!
Abhi ke abhi dena hoga!
Daadi utho na!
Suddenly a lady rushed into the room. She grabbed the little boy and pulled the little girl. She started scolding them.
By god! Kya kaha tha maine! Daadi ab bahut thak gayi hain! Aur tum dono unko...!
The kids ran off, laughing their childlike laughter. The lady turned back.
Sorry ma! Yeh dono bacche bhi na! Tum kyon nahi lock kiya!
Shilpa- Gunjan, maine chaahti thi ki yeh dono mere pass aayi.
Gunajan- O, accha! (She smiled as her mother nodded off to sleep again) Come on Mike. Come Jiggers. (The dogs followed her out of the room and Gunjan shut the door behind her.
Her sister-in-law was in the kitchen, instructing the cook what to cook for the day. The kids ran off to her, complaining. But Nupur dismissed their complaints. As Gunjan came up with a ''good morning, bhaabi!'', Nupur turned around.
Nupur- Good morning Gunjan! By god, yeh dono kabhi nahi sudroge!
Gunjan smiled at the kids as they played around with the dogs.
Nupur- Kya mere bhai uth gaya?
Gunjan- Kya mere bhai bhi uth gaya?
Dia enterd the kitchen, with ''Good morning!''
Nupur and Gunjan- Good morning Dia!
Dia- Babes, aaj plan kya hain?
Gunjan- Pata nahi. Pehle Samrat aur Bhaiyya ko uthaana padega!
Dia- Kyon na hum aaj bahar chaltein hain. Dogs, bacche, aunty aur sab ko lekar!
Nupur- Accha idea hain, lekin Mayank ko shayad koi aur plans hain. Mujhe baat karni hogi.
Raj- Mummy! Picnic mein chalo na!
Simran- Mummy! Zoo mein chalein naa!
Nupur- Uffo! Accha suno! jao aur daddy ko uthao1
Simran- But daddy is sleeping!
Raj- Dont disturb daddy!
Gunjan- Accha? Aaraamse Daadi ko disturb kar sakte ho lekin Daddy ko nahi?
The kids started giggling.
Nupur- Accha suno! Jao Samrat mama ko disturb karo!
Gunjan- Par bhaabi! Sone toh do usko!
But the kids vanished in the direction of Samrat's room upstairs. Dia and Nupur chuckled.
Gunjan-(Making faces) Haan haan haanslo haanslo! Kal tumhaari baari hoga! (She smiled)
