Yes the focus was given on the shoe lace..
That also means that he did not close this chapter and he will be coming back later..
When Aarti talked to him about his son he was striken for a moment or two but then in his selfish way he just walked out..
Aarti's statement that he could be steadfast to his parents or to her then wouldn't he atleast consider his "ansh"... but a person who is not steadfast with so many relations how can he hold yet one another??
So he may not hold the new relation and may come back but it will be too late as Ansh is already 5..
