Deven Bhojani
TV actor

I'm known more as a comedian but I would like to let everyone know that I'm a very versatile actor. I would love to play emotional roles and negative roles on TV or any other media

T_k > Deven, Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai is certainly the best serial I have seen in long time...Who is your favorite character in the Sarabhai?
Deven Bhojani > Actually being a director I won't be partial towards a character, they all are like my kids and I can't afford to be partial towards one.

Deven Bhojani > Hi Deven how is it jumping from acting to directing?
Deven Bhojani > It is wonderful being the caption of the ship and it's quite a challenging job which I thoroughly enjoy.

R_g > How did you get into Television?
Deven Bhojani > It started with intercollegiate competition, after which I got into professional theater and then into TV. First was Malgudi Days, followed by Dekh Bhai Dekh , Tara , Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka , Office Office.

T_k > What are your future plans? Tell us something about your role in ' Ba, Bahu aur Baby '?
Deven Bhojani > I'm sure aoubt my extension of Sarabhai vs Sarabai and at this moment I can't disclose anything about my role in Ba, Bahu aur Baby. But I'm very hopeful about my characters and also the serial.

Karishma > Hi, what advice would you like to give to the newcomers who are planning to join television?
Deven Bhojani > I'm not that senior or experienced, however I feel that one can go ahead only if one is confident, properly trained and of course talented.

Nama > Out of the roles which you have played on small screen, which one is closest to your heart and why?
Deven Bhojani > Nama Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka ' s Raju and Gattu of Ba Bahu aur Baby are my favourite characters till date.

Becha > Is it true that youngsters in serials are not too serious about their careers and they won't make it in the long run...
Deven Bhojani > Yes it's true to quite an extent that they are not serious, disciplined, honest and talented. Very few artists have the qualities to be a lambi race ka godha.

Clod > Are you very choosy about what assignments you take. Or you just take whatever comes your way?
Deven Bhojani > I'm very choosy and very particular about the work I do. My close friends teasingly call me Aamir Khan of TV.

T_k > Share some 'behind the scene' secrets about the actors of Sarabhai.
Deven Bhojani > Three of them, Ratnaji, Satishji and Rupali, are almost like their reel characters in their real lives!

Karishma > As they say that there is a woman's hand behind any man's success, who is behind your success?
Deven Bhojani > Of course there is one woman, my wife. But there are others also - my parents and mainly my four close friends, JD, Aatish, Vipul Shah & Paresh Ganatra.

Jassi > Which was your first program on TV?
Deven Bhojani > It was Malgudi Days in 1986

Prince-Charming> What sort of portrayals do you personally prefer to do?
Deven Bhojani > I'm known more as a comedian but I would like to let everyone know that I'm a very versatile actor. I would love to play emotional roles and negative roles on TV or any other media.
Giva > Do you identify with any of your onscreen characters? Which one and why?
Deven Bhojani > I think Raju of Ek Mahal Ho Spano Ka was to some extent like Deven. He was one of the favorites of the whole family, which I am.

Madhur > Is TV a medium where generally only young actors get a chance? What about slightly older or over the hill actors? Do they stand a chance?
Deven Bhojani > Of course they stand a chance if they are talented enough. TV offers a variety of roles for elderly characters.

Over_the_hill > When did you realize acting was what you wanted take up as a career?
Deven Bhojani > I have been doing Theatre from 1984. It started as a hobby and fun. Along with Theater i was also working as a Sales man in a Soda maker Company. After that I also tried my hand at being an Real Estate Agent. Butt one day I got a call Mr Mansoor Khan for Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and I had to travel to Ooty for 2 months. It was then that I decided to quit everything and just concentrate on acting .

Mayuri > How did you feel when you were facing the camera for the first time?
Deven Bhojani > I was warned by some people that to face a camera is scary but I had faced thousand people while doing live shows, so to face a single camera was no big deal . And I almost wondered why people talk about camera consciousness. Theater gave me enough experience and so I was not at all scared of the camera. The camera was like my friend.

Sign Off Message > Thank you very much for watching Sarabai vs Sarabai and Instant Kichdi which I'm directing. Thank you for appreciating me as an actor all these years in various serials. And do watch me again as an actor as Gattu n Ba Bahu & Baby . And of course keep watching Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai.
