Gurmeet to play a recluse :
Gurmeet Choudhary, well known for his roles as Ram in Ramayan and Maan Singh Khurana in Geet Hui Sabse Pyaari, is back on the small-screen with a new show Punar Vivah. The actor, who had taken a break for a while said that he wanted to take time and wait for a good role. "I took up Punar Vivah since this seemed different from what I had done before. As an actor I want to challenge myself and this is something I had never done before. So it came across as the perfect opportunity.
Gurmeet essays the role of a quiet and arrogant man who dedicated his life to his family and children. He reveals that it's not like any other run-of-the-mill-shows. "It's not like those saas-bahu soaps. The storyline is different and I play a widower, so that has another dimension to the role where I am detached and withdrawn from the world," says Gurmeet. His character also highlights the social issues in society like remarriage too. "I play this protective father and don't want my kids to miss out on the love of a mother due to no fault of theirs. I agree to remarry only for the sake of my kids, and in the process discover the beauty of another relationship and love. The concept is appealing and suits the modern-day man. I simply couldn't have refused this offer," says Gurmeet.Apart from doing television, Gurmeet is foraying into films and will soon be seen on the big screen as well. However, the actor plans to keep it hush-hush, as he cannot disclose anything on that front. "We've shot some portions of the film and you'll have to simply wait and watch out," says Gurmeet. Does that mean that Gurmeet is leaving the small-screen? The actor is quick enough to reassure and says, "I don't think I can leave television completely. Even reality shows are welcome."
