Why is it that this show feels like its right there...on the edge of greatness, at the precipice of absolute heights and then suddenly they pull back?? I just love this show, but I can't figure out for the life of me why with so much talent and such a handsome and beautiful lead pair, it just can't deliver that final blow. Last week's dance was fantabulous! The successive episodes were nice and Friday blew us away!!! The ME was so so, except for Khushi's reciprocal kiss, and the editing was horrible. Today, more bad editing and almost no Barun and another laughable murder attempt by the Muppet aka Shyam. Right on the edge; the edge. So the leads have both kissed each other and today, right back to square one. A few glances and some silly dialogue and moving right along.
I just dont get it. When will this show get off the runway? Its been taxiing for months. Take off!! Jump off the cliff already. We're all there with you. We are ready to jump with this show. We want to see these two reach the heights of love or hate or anything. Anything!!!! Just go for it. What are you saving up for? Lalit Mohan keeps saying things on FB like here it goes, this is it, whatever. When are we going to see SOMETHING??? Even Shyam, maybe one of his schemes could work even a little and we'd get a little excitement. But they fall flat before even getting out of the starter's gate. How laughable.
When this show first started it was hotter than hot. Arnav and Khushi didn't even really know each other and they were emitting such passion, I couldn't miss an episode. But lately that is gone and what's left is a little disappointing. I watch all the old episodes on YouTube and forward through the present episodes and erase them on the dvr. It really should be the other way around. To prove my point just check the August 4th, 5th episodes when Khushi goes to collect her things. Passion oozes out of every frame. When was the last time we saw that? Again right on the edge. Last week's dance lit up the forum. We were going crazy. A little flirting during the week and then BANG a kiss that we never expected! Saturday, Khushi kisses him back and wow we can't believe that either (neither can Arnav). And now here we are Monday, and they've come back from the edge again and they're afraid to take the leap.
I know this is a long post and the CVs have pleased us a ittle as of late, but honestly they know they could give us more. They are right there...on the edge. Just take the leap and give us what we want and we'll jump with you. We'll send your trps through the roof, but you have to stop pulling back. Stop going back to square one, so you can drag this out. Write well for these characters and move them on to greatness where they clearly belong. My sad feeling is that with so many shows waiting in the wing, IPKKND won't improve steadily until they're threatened with cancellation. Maryada got the warning and now they picked it up. But why does it have to come to that? I know they can see greatness, now go out and grab it. Greatness is a fantastic feeling. Don't be so afraid of it!

I think we should cut them some slack. If reports on the forum are to be believed, they've been working really hard.

I know the editing can be much better, but I think the writers, actors and others are doing a fabulous job. We can definitely expect more, and I hope they do take it to the next level.

So today's episode was average, but that's life. Not everyday is great or awesome... if we had hot passion everyday, it'd be like eating too much ice cream and we'd eventually tire of it.

That's not to say that they can't change or do better, but let's be optimistic, and at the same time, realistic. They have a whole lot of expectations to fulfill, who knows what's going on behind-the-scenes - production budgets, talks with the channel, actors' personal lives and schedules.

Let's give them a chance... 😊

But you haven't understood my point. Its not about hot passion every day. But how can you enjoy the ice cream if all you ever get is a spoonful and then its put back in the freezer? My issue is why keep taking us "there" to the edge and then pulling back so the story can be dragged? I understand long hours, etc, but all other daily shows are the same. They ALL shoot long hours. Sanaya has said she has shot sick and even done dance sequences while ill. We all are sympathetic to that. But body doubles and poor editing is NOT the answer if you want your show to stay on the air. Something has got to be done to improve this show, its editing, no more body doubles, etc. I guarantee you if this keeps up Star Plus will threaten to pull the plug. Navya just started and its going off air. No show is safe unless trps are good. This show has got to improve and stop being afraid to take risks. We have a right to expect the show to be consistent and good at the same time.

I agree. It's not about the passion. It's about the quality. The quality of the writing, the editing and everything else. They definitely have the potential. I understand about the crazy work schedules. That has nothing to do with a cockamamie scheme to pop someone off with Ether. It's the 21st century people. The writers need to read a few detective novels before they write story lines that are so silly that 10 year olds can poke holes in their logic. This show works for several reasons. The 2 leads are good actors...specially Sanaya..she is fabulous. The dynamic between Anjali and Arnav is interesting..their interdependency is touching. And there a few interesting side characters like NK.

What they need to do, like you said, is run with it. Take a risk. Do something daring. Do something fabulous. Expose Shyam. Make Anjali go ballistic on his ass. Make ASR really kiss KKG in front of everyone. Make Payal stand up to Mamiji. Make Lakshmi find her Vishnu!😉 I don't know. Do something risky! No guts, no glory writers! No guts, no glory!

But then, I haven't seen a single Hindi daily soap do consistently well story wise. IPPKKND is pretty good, considering the tripe that gets dished out regularly.

Cheers!
Vidhya

PS: I rarely comment on these type of posts. I found myself nodding vigorously at what you wrote. Had to chip in. Thanks for bringing it up.

I do agree with you... and I do understand what you mean! I'm no expert on bolly TV but I think this show has a lot of unique challenges that other shows don't, i.e. if the discussions on this forum are to be believed...

I read that the Production House is not as big/ influential as some of the others, are budgets a constraint?

It's a quintessential love story - how many of SP's audience want to see that? I remember after the Jan 23rd episode, some lady posts on LM's wall "Sorry to say Barun was very bad while dancing.Even some scenes wrer not appropriate for familY audieyou you guys just giv0nce.But why i m talking this. This show;s audience just want Romance e them that. But think twice for Family audience too.I felt quite"Eks."While watching their dace and editing was very very bad."
If one looks at the TRPs, seems like the channel's audience prefer shows that show the saas-bahu stuff. Also, if one looks at the Indian audience in general, a Balika Vadhu is more popular. Are Indian audiences ready to watch IPK? I think the people it attracts are the ones that might be watching non-hindi non saas-bahu sagas

I only hope that IPK doesn't go the Navya way in terms of the story. The latter started off as a love story too, but over time became a family drama in some ways. That diluted its positioning and I lost interest...

What could be better:

Editing could be a million times better... in fact their performance in the recent past reminds me of the Indian cricket team 😉

Body doubles - highly avoidable, unless the circumstances are such that there was no other option.

Yes, they slipped up in December. But the build-up in Jan has been good. I'm going to wait and watch a week before I give up hope 😊

I agree with u...Today Indian television is full of shows which look clones of each other...But IPKKND comes across as a breath of freah air. I am sure the PH & LM also realise the mad fan following, what with the comments on FB & Twitter. Just hope that they surprise us again in the coming episodes as they have in past 2 weeks, after a very drab December.

hello there,
have been a silent reader of this forum and am awestruck by the SS, FF, OS, Episode Analysis and POVs that all of you discuss here. Honestly, at first i was unable to decipher the acronyms. It is now clear to me what an FF or a OS or SS means and 'm steadily improving : )

Well, i write today for the first time upon your mentioning of the episodes aired on 4th & 5th August of last year. Have seen these two episodes a couple of times. I marvel at the young actor playing ASR and how he is able to convey all the unspoken emotions of his heart and of course at the brilliant dialogue delivery of " tum aise nahi jaa ...khushi ...KHUSHI ..." in the episode.
it reminds me of someone ...long time ago ...anyways, so umm...just wanted to convey that we all have something in common here and that is we all enjoy the show and i am sure that the CV's would understand your plea and gladly rectify someday soon : )
cheers!

You're so right in so many ways. Unfortunately compared to rest of diatribe dished out by the daily soaps, ipkknd is a world apart. The general premise, the two leads, the supporting cast and the overall storyline is much different then the other nonsense. So I and probably many like me' will put up with the shoddy editing, the filler episodes and the Jekyll & Hyde narration. Cause frankly hands down it beats the rest of sass- bahu BS dished out to pander to audiences who I fail to relate too (a mild way of putting it)

So I know I for one will plod along unless they do something drastically stupid in the same vein as Navya (and we know how that was repaid!). I will continue to dvr episodes like last week and rewatch until the next high. Why ??? Cause ipkknd has this inate magic when They get it right!

Great post...u seem to have put my thoughts into words...!!!!!!
I honestly feel that the this show has potential...amazing potential..its got wonderful gifted actors...a scorching chemistry between the leads...a promising story line and the portrayal of characters by the actors is brilliant...but like u said they are always on that Edge...always holding back... I remember the earlier episodes which were like truly outta d world...dat intensity passion...so different from any of the other shows dat we get to see...

I can readily forgive the occasional slips & bad editing and all...

I mean..look at us...After weeks of boring episodes..the last week was simply exhilarating...the sangeet, the jealousy...the kiss...we forgot all the past filler episodes and literally celebrated...

But dont stop with this CV's...u dont hv to give us passionate episodes everyday...but make the story move forward...dont let things cool and go back to square one... we cant let amnesia take over after that kiss...
Those kisses were significant...the equations have changed between them...it should mean something to them...show that awareness...their actions and words towards each other should reflect that something momentous has happened...

At the end of the day we all really really really love this show...i mean just luk at the volume of FF OS SS and numerous analysis and posts...people here spend so much time over this serial...I really really dont want to see the show doing bad...want IPKKND to top the charts and soar...oh well... forget the TRP's ...the quality of the show..the intensity with which things strted out and thus gat all f us hooked..that needs to be maintained...

Personally I have never been dis bothered with any other show before dis...which is why am so concerned about it...well lets kip our fingers crossed...

P.S. Am not complaining, just want the show to keep improving dats all
