Lol its surprising bt i havnt watched Baazigar properly..only watched some parts of it..so i dont knw exactly hw the story unfolded..bt i hope u r right n Viraj doesnt turn out to b an all out negative character..i dont want to see him dying too..
Viraj is the older one in the photo and also he was adopted, so that leaves the possibility of him being 1st adopted then a girl was born for the Dobriyals, and the change of attention thing.
It could be as someone had mentioned, he was adopted because of his wealth. He might be the sole heir of the business of his dad Vijay Sharma. Dobriyals could be his partner who killed his dad or tricked him to death to acquire the wealth.
Also in the family photo Viraj was looking indifferent while the rest of the family is happy. So he could have been used just as a pawn to achieve all the property and might have been abused so that he is mentally unfit to handle everything (So child abuse comes into the picture).
He might be Dobriyal son to the outside world, or the Dobriyals might have projected like that, while in reality he might have been trained like an animal to do so. May be they treated him like a servant, and that could be why he has an obsession for cleanliness and punctuality. Also he was sentimental about Sia breaking an antique idol, he could have gone through such a situation in childhood, for which he would have been treated brutally. For every little mistake he had done he could have been treated badly, that is why he gives others punishment for mistakes. He lives a time tabled life, could be because he was trained to do like that from childhood for the Dobriyals.
At some point of life he would have reached his limit, and might have caused the fire accident and ended his misery. Payal might have escaped the accident and another accident would have raised suspicion on him, hence he would have kept her in an asylum.
He could be a victim as well as a murderer.
One thing is they just showed a date Jan 05, 8:17(am or pm?), but not the year of the incident.
If only the year was known things could have been more correlated, whether the accident happened in childhood or in youth. Looks like Jhanvis family is totally clueless about their son in laws family.
