Chapter 1 - A terrible beginning?

Today is 12 of April. A special day! After all, it's Kripa's birthday! **Ok, so I uh totally used my birth-date for that. Forgive me 😳** Today she turns 18. Early sun rays come into her room which makes her shift and turn in bed. She wakes up in few seconds with a frown and yawns. She goes up to the window and opens them welcoming the warm rays and the cool wind to touch her delicate skin.

With a smile on her face, she enters the balcony to look at the early morning sun. She never gets tired of looking at the garden behind her room where the scene stretches and on the far end, the beach is visible. The perfect view, one might say. She goes back in her room and when she looks at the clock, her eyes get wide. She hurries off to get ready as she is getting late for college. She did not want to get late on the last day of college.

After about 15 minutes, she comes out of the bathroom wearing a red anarkali. Since today is the last day of school, they are allowed to wear whatever they want to wear. Meaning, they didn't have to wear the uniform. Sometimes, she would get irritated wearing the same outfit. But what could she do? She loved the uniform just as much. The skirt that came right above her knees and the white shirt that went along perfectly with a reddish tie. She would always keep it a bit loose though.

She hurried off in the kitchen and ate her breakfast in a hurry and runs out of the house. She reaches college in about 10 minutes. She parks the car and she as steps out, she sees two girls coming towards her. Both of them hug her and wish her Happy Birthday. She returns the hug and says, "Thank You." As they relieve from the hug, their faces can be seen. They're none other than Riddhima and Nikita.

"Sooo…" She sang. "Who wished you first???" Nikita nudged her as they started entering the gates.

Riddhima said, "Oh come on! Yeh bhi koi punch ne ki baat hai. Of course it's Angad!"

Kripa frowned. "I am afraid not."

Both the girls stopped as she continued to walk. After looking at each other, they shook their head as they catched up

Riddhima said, "Please tell me he didn't forget!"

Kripa stayed silent and her silence had said everything. Seeing her sad on her birthday made Nikki mad. "Today I'm not going to leave him! How dare he forget one of the most important days?! These boys I tell you! They only think about themselves."

Just then they hear a voice of someone playing guitar. Kripa walks away from the voice knowing just well who that is. The voice of the guitar stops as the person gets surrounded by girls. They are all over him. He gave a cute smile that everyone falls in love with. His eyes; amazing as ever. Anyone can drown into them.

Kripa turns back around at the same time to see where Nikka and Riddhima were. She sees that and gets madder. She walks off without even seeing if they both are behind her. Just then they see her walk off with her face very red due to anger.

Nikka: "Kripa! Ruko toh!"

They both try to catch up to her but she was walking really fast. Angad saw Kripa coming his way. He thought she was coming to talk to him. He excused himself from the girls around him and opened his mouth to call her, but she just walked by him as if he didn't even exist. He got confused and turns around to see Nikki and Riddhima trying to catch up to her. He questions.

"Hey, what happened to her? She left as if I don't even exist!"

Nikki gave him an angry look. "Yeh tum punch rahe ho?? We didn't expect this from you!"

He gets even more confused. "What!? I'm confused. What have I done?!"

Riddhima replied. "Nothing. Tumne kuch nahi kiya. And that's the problem!" They both left from there leaving Angad even more confused than ever. He self-talks, "Aaj inn logo ko ho kya gaya hai? Ajeeb behave kar rahe hai sab! Kuch karu to problem aur na karu to bhi!"

Someone puts hand on his shoulder while saying: "Teri khud se baate karne ki adaat kab badlegi?" Knowing the familiar voice Angad smiled and turned around. After parting from the hug, he says: "Voh toh kabhi nahi badlegi, yaar." Abhi laughed.

Angad faked anger. "Where were you since the last 2 weeks? Do you have any idea how bored I got? And you didn't even leave a note or anything. Not even a text!"

Abhi replied, "Sorry yaar. Dad ne hume farmhouse par chod diya tha kyunki unko business trip par jaane tha." Angad failed to catch the sadness in his tone.

"It's fine. Now let's go. Varna last day par bhi late ho jayen ge."

The bell rings and everyone moves to their respective classes.

The girls enter the classroom. Kripa sees Angad sitting in his usual seat, which was next to her. She didn't want to sit next to him so she went up to the teacher and asked, "Ma'am. May I please sit with Nikka and Riddhima today?"

"Sure Kripa. Today is the last day. So you may sit wherever you like." She smiled at the teacher and went to sit next to Ridhz. The person next to her moved and chose a different spot in the room.

While the teacher was busy taking attendance, Nikki whispered to Kripa: "Toh party kab hai?"

Kripa decided to play innocent. "What party? Aaj koi party hai kya?"

Ridhz rolled her eyes as she replied, "Oh come on! We're not fools alright. And you suck at acting. Don't even try it with is."

Kripa frowned. "Damn it! I need to get better!" They giggled. Both said together, "A lot better!"

Nikki said truthfully, "Kripa, these eyes of yours can never hide anything from us. No matter how good you get, we'll always catch it."

Kripa hated philosophical talks. Especially when it came from Nikki. From Ridhz was acceptable. "Alright, don't start. The party's at 6:00. Of course, at my house. The invitations have already been sent out and you both are coming early to decorate. Right?"

Both of them replied at the same time: "Of course."

Kripa replied the smile and they talked about other hot gossips of the day. The whole time, Angad was trying to get Kripa's attention but was unable to as all the other girls had surrounded him.

He finally managed to get rid of them and then decided to write her a note. After he finished writing it, he gave it to Abhi who was going towards her. Abhi gave a confused look to him and he replied, "Give this to Kripa please?"

Abhi nods. Unlike Angad, he had remembered her birthday and was going to wish her. When he reached there, he gives a hug to her while saying, "Happy birthday." He then gives the note to Kripa. Just like him, she gave a confused look to him.

"Angad." He said and she understood. Hearing the name, her face turned red with frustration. Still, she opens it as Ridhz and Nikki nudge her to.

"Hey, what's up? Are you mad at me? why aren't you talking to me? did I do something wrong? Please talk to me! when you are mad at me, I don't like it one bit. Please smile? You look good when you're smiling. Not when you're mad. By the way, nice dress! Please reply to me?!"

After reading the note she crumpled the piece of paper. Seeing this, Angad figured that this time he had done something big and she won't forgive him with just a piece of letter. Abhi spoke up.

"Please tell me that he didn't forget again."

Nikki replied sarcastically. "Sorry to disappointment you. But your best friend did forget." A pinch of attitude could be heard in her tone.

Kripa, who was already mad, replied firmly, "And this time, he's not getting off easily." Ridhz took the note from her hand and started uncrumpling it. After reading the note she passed it to Nikki who then passes it to Abhi. All three of them shook their heads in disappointment.

"Aur Abhi, don't even think about reminding Angad. For once, let him realize by himself." Abhi thought, "So she knew!" about the other times when Abhi had secretly told Angad about everything he was forgetting.

The whole day passed with chatting all around the room. The teacher sat there not caring as it was the last day for the year. She was happy to get rid of them for the summer. Thus, she let them be.

Finally, it was time for lunch. After that they had to go back to class for half an hour and then they were free to go! Everyone took their seat as they knew that if they weren't seated, the teacher won't dismiss them for lunch.

As soon as the teacher picked up her book, everyone rushed out of the room even before she could. As this had always been the signal that they were dismissed. She stood there shaking his head disapproving seeing them rush out like maniacs. Kripa asked the girls to hurry up as she was more than sure that Angad would try to talk to her.

The girls were digging in their bag for their lunch money and Nikki replied, "Yea you go ahead."

Kripa rushed to the door so she could get out before Angad reaches her. Angad was too fast though and he came in front of her to block her way. She closed her eyes and then reopened them after trying not to frown. She moved to her right but he moved the same way. She then moved to her left. Same thing happened again.

She stops trying to get out and looks up to him. She says sternly, "What?!"

"Problem kya hai? Why are you not talking to me? What have I done?!" She tapped her feet in frustration. He still has the nerve to ask me this!!!

Just than Nikki and Ridhz came up behind her and stood on either side. Nikki replied knowing what Kripa would have said.

"Problem kya hai? You're asking this! We can ask you the same."

"Can you all stop talking in riddles?!"

Ridhz rolled her eyes before explaining. "Meaning you are forgetting something big. Really big! And if you don't figure it out by evening then…" she trailed off hoping he was at least smart enough to figure out rest of the threat.

"Good luck!" Nikki said while Kripa walked around him. He moved to the side as Nikki too exited the door. Riddhima, being the soft one, stopped and turned to look at him. But she knew better than to say anything to him. He had crossed his limit of forgetting this time and he had to pay. Thus, she only patted his shoulder. "You'll need it."

He watched all three of them disappear. Usually, he could rely on Riddhima if it were bad. But even she had said nothing. This scared him and all he knew as of then was that he indeed was forgetting something that he couldn't quite point out. He just knew he had to find out.
