Hi everyone!
Fourth season of swayamvar. And this time Veena Malik is a bride. Do u think these celebrities r serious about marriage? And most important part all those who r taking part in this swayamvar r seriously in love with celebrities? I guess No.
In previous three seasons only Rahul Mahajan agreed for marriage after swayamvar while rakhi sawant and ratan rajput were only engaged. If they r not ready for marriage than whats the point of swayamvars? After 2 or 3 months of engagement rakhi broke up with her partner and her reason was that they both dont understand each other perfectly. Ofcource its natural. How could u understand a person just in one month of reality show?
Why its so hard for them to find life partner? Why they need to go for swayamvar? If they r serious about marriage than I think they should know that its impossible to understand a person just in a month.
Channel is organising such shows 4 TRP while for celebrities its publicity stunt and those who r taking part in it just to become famous.
But in all these process dont u think they r taking marriage as a game?

Of course Swayamvar doesn't take marriage seriously. Such shows care less about whether the marriages will really last or about the sanctity of marriage than about the eyeballs they attract. We can also argue that the institution of marriage unto itself is replete with loopholes and flaws, but I don't want to meander here.

I'm sure many people who watch Swayamvar know the show is a joke, but they still tune in regardless. Most of them watch it to dissect the suitors and to get their daily dose of drama more than anything else. This is the age of consumerism- whatever gets you the TRPs you need, even if it is societal structures that have been upheld for centuries, is fine and dandy. Crap like Swayamvar and much more will continue to exist as long as the idiot box is in the picture.

Shows like The Bachelor and The Bachelorette were actually the ones that kick started this trend, not to mention stuff like Cheaters (which, IMO, represents the pinnacle of peeping Tom TV at its best- or worst, whichever way you look at it). The 'winners' of The Bachelor/Bachelorette have even worse success rates as compared to Swayamvar when it comes to sticking it through in a relationship.

At the end of the day, we need to take into account that human beings are inquisitive creatures. Creative heads tap into it and cater to our need to be privy to the private lives of others. The attention seekers who participate in these shows know it as well, and if they are gung ho about getting paid fat paychecks to put their public lives on display, it's their call.

I say just watch Swayamvar with a pinch of salt. In any case, I find the thought of jumping into a marriage barely a few weeks or months after meeting someone who is obviously desperate for his/her 2 minutes of fame priceless.

whether u want to watch it or not its on u but fact is that they r making fun of marriage. According to me all reality shows r scripted and r not worth to watch. But in swayamvars they r using marriage for TRP.
If celebrities r serious about marriage than its ok. But main motive of channel is attention of audience to stay in the battle of TRP.
Neither channel not bride and groom r serious about it so whats the point of organising it.?

Basically it's them being greedy and insincere, a horrible combination for the long run. Actually you're confused as to why tv show producers and creators are doing this. What is happening is that they are making a huge mistake, ie creating lots of mass produced products with no focus on quality, a sure way for businesses to fail.

This is a loss loss situation. It is swayamvara for the bride and swayammasala/swayamkhatara for the groom. But then again I am sure there will be few khatroon ke khiladi among the lot i.e. har ke jeet jaane waale bazigaars.
@ topic. It must be for trp. veena has gone through few such situations already. Once the show is over and money is in the bank - she will dispose the vara and we will be left with her swayam to endure.

The intent of TV shows (reality or not) is higher TRP rating. Nothing wrong with that.

If they are using marriage (specifically "Swayamvara") as the main concept, nothing wrong with that too. They are, in fact, celebrating the fact that women had choice in the ancient era.

Those who want to find something negative somewhere, will always find it. Nothing wrong with that too.

There are those (like me) who just dislike that show. Luckily, I have a little thing called remote.

Ofcource its game of TRP and no doubt in it. But marriage shoundt be used as a material just for success of show.

@bold: All the memories of bigboss 4 r still fresh. She was advertising her beauty and manners over there.
