😊 I think we can start a classic 90's movies thread and every week, we can explore a movie and share our thoughts on it. This week, I wanted to share a film that is very close to my heart and made me a huge Aish fan ever since! HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM was the only film that Salman and Aish had before their fallout. It was the perfect romantic film and beautifully directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Ajay also did a good job. Salman and Aish's chemistry made this movie truly a memorable feast for the eyes. Aish's performance won her many awards. Movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam cannot be made today in 2012. None of today's actresses can pull off a Nandini if their life depended on it! 😆 Perhaps Anuskha could do it, but she doesn't have the dancing or grace that Aish had back in those times.
Let's go back in time and wonder why HDDCS was such a great film for its time!

Movie was nice but did not like the ending. How can somone suddenly just start to care on her husband, when she is truly in love with someone else. To me the ending was to appease the India audiences at that time, because her leaving her devoted husband and going back to her lover, who helped her search on her lover would not be acceptable to society at that time IMO. Im my view she compromised and it was heart wrenching seeing the lover heartbroken.

Nah I liked the ending. My only complaint is that it should have been Abhishek in Ajay's role.

I love HDDCS...this is wht SLB made when he wasnt too busy trying to prove himself as a successor to guru dutt...i think its his best to date...

I love the vibrant colours, the song and dance, the melodrama and the performances in this movie because they were done right and weren't done with a "look at me" intent like in devdas or sawariya...

The music was gr8..the dances were awsome...salman was friggin adorable...Aishwarya was gorgeous...Ajay was sweet...
Plus, i sooo loved salman and aishwarya as an onscreen couple...its a shame they didnt work after tht because they could have given all the so called legendary pairings a run for their money...

The movie had quite a lot of depth in the way it handled marital relationships and i really respect tht. I love the ending, because like ash says ..Sameer taught her to love...but Vanraj taught her to be responsible with love...

Even today, i never get bored of this movie. gr8 stuff.

Were he in it the movie would have been a joke. Salman and Ajay were two powerhouses in this movie, great acting, great songs, and so on. Sameer(Salman) and Nandi were just great onscreen. Were I in her shoes I would return to Sameer. 😉😊. He was her true love and I would never settle. I guess am romantic at heart.

One of the best movies of 90s...

Truly a showcase for Aishwarya's elegant dancing...though her acting in the first part was a bit cringe worthy at a lot of places( she can never pull off a light hearted funny character if her life depended on it...), she more than made it up with her wonderful performance in the second half...

She became my favorite actress just with this one movie(that is until she committed Khakhi and Dhoom😳)

Ajay was apt and Salman was adorable and needless to say Salman-Aishwarya pairing was and will always be one of the top 10 in Bollycinema...

The ending was ok...but felt bad for Salman's character...But Nandini's father will remain the most hated fictional character for me...

Calling Salman a power house of acting in the movie would be taking it too far...Just like Aishwarya cannot perform light characters, Salman cannot perform heavy characters...His crying in the end made many laugh...😕

Both Salman and Aishwarya were at best mediocre in the movie...Ajay is the one who gave out a stellar performance...

So is this how they fall in love in the movie? LOL Ladygaga, the scene is so corny 😛...But yeah, I watched the second half of the movie and I loved every bit of it! But why doesnt Ash's father let her marry Salman?
