Actress Soumya Tandon, who plays Rusti in Aisa Des Hai Mera, thinks that it's difficult for an outsider like her to survive in the industry. "The industry is not so organised, like even if you are fatigued you've to work," says Soumya, quickly adding, "but it's not that I'm not enjoying."

Soumya plays a girl from London who comes to India to find her roots. Was it difficult to play? "Actually, it was producer Manish Goswami and director Lekh Tandon who thought that I could play this role. They were sure that I fitted the bill. And within five months of meeting them I was off to London to shoot for it." Did she prepare herself for the role?

"No, there was no preparation. As I am a playing a British girl I've to speak with an accent. That's a little tough, but I'm getting used to it," she says Soumya is the winner of the 'Femina Cover Girl 2006' and has also done a number of ad campaigns before she was chosen to play Rusti. And acting with seasoned actors was a great opportunity which Soumya didn't want to lose.

"I am getting to learn a lot from them." Soumya is not just a pretty face. Not many people know that she used to write poems when she was a child and her book was even nominated for Modi National Young Writer's award. And whenever she's free, the actress loves to read.
