hey..well i knw dis is posted b4 ... do take a look..

One of the biggest and most watched events of Indian television took place recently with the Vatika Shampoo Star Parivaar Awards 2005. Tellywood stars, including many from rival channels, were out in their finest wear for both...

- the main event that took place at Bhawan's College Campus and the very glamorous and glitzy post-event party that rocked the floors at the J. W. Marriott Hotel, Juhu till the wee hours of the morning.

In its third year, the Star Parivaar Awards bring to life the concept of the perfect parivaar (family) on screen. Interestingly, it is not the individual involved to whom the award goes but rather to the character that is being portrayed. Indian soap stars or in most cases really, as Star Parivaar has rightly pinpointed it with the concept of these awards, the characters they play have a huge fan following in the country and their popularity often equals that of top Bollywood stars.

After all, who can forget the huge outpouring of grief that shook the country when the character Mihir was killed off in Kyuunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi? He came back from being dead based on nothing other than popular demand! Medical science and real life possibilities as we already know it don't stand for anything when it comes to the emotional pull and melodrama of Hindi television's top serials.

And of course, the reigning queen of it all this year too as always was Ekta Kapoor. Kyuunki..., Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasauti Zindagi Kay, Kkavyanjali and Kahiin To Hoga were some of the soaps among many other superstitiously named 'K' ones that bagged awards.

And of course, each of her winners stepping up on stage made a point to pay court to the queen, thanking both her and mother Shobha profusely for all that they had done. Ronit Roy, in particular expressed his gratitude by openly declaring that even if his family lost everything they would still be indebted to Ekta. Brother Rohit, who stepped on stage to present an award, also took the opportunity to thank Ekta, albeit in a kidding manner. Wonder what that is all about... Ekta, however, modest as ever smilingly declared that the stars were just being "overly kind and generous."

"""Another Balaji Telefilms protege who made her presence known at the awards was Natassha, who won the Best Naya Sadasya Award. Natassha attended the post-party event with her co-star from Kkvayanjali Eijaz Khan. The two were seeing cozying up to each other and whenever invited by the Press to have a bit of chat, Natassha grabbed hold of Eijaz and dragged him along. In terms of her not-quite-successful movie career, up for Natassha is yet another Balaji movie. She and Eijaz, however, did give a thoroughly enjoyable earlier performance to the peppy tracks of Bunty aur Babli."""

Among those who gave another thoroughly engrossing performance were also reel-life couple Kumkum and Sumeet who danced sensuously to the title track of Kaal. Juhi Parmar, whose character Kumkum won the Best Bahu, in a drastic change from the demure saris she wears on TV, was dressed in a mini skirt and danced the night away with Hussain aka Sumeet at the Marriott's discotheque Enigma.

Other highlights of the awards included a special and much-deserved felicitation given to Sudha Shivpuri, who plays the much loved Ba in Kyuunki...Beside her all through out the ceremony was her stunning daughter Ritu, who declared that not even five percent of her mother's charm and good nature was shown on screen. How saintly can one get?

The favourite saut category went to the always well dressed Rakshanda Khan, who although happy seemed a bit worried about the category. After all, she still hasn't had a goody-two shoes role vied by all in the television film fraternity. But like all those who haven't quite made it, Rakshanda too echoed, that her character Tanya was "interesting to play, with a variety of shades to her."

After having missed it for the past two years, Ali Asgar finally managed to grab the Best Devar Award and was absolutely ecstatic over it. Joining him from his reel-life family was brother Om, played by Kiran Karmarkar who won the Favourite Sasur Award.

Although from a rival serial in term of TRPs, Apoorva Agnihotri, Armaan of Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, was a dutiful husband that night accompanying wife Shilpa Saklani who won the Best Devrani Award. Also making an appearance was Apoorva's co-star Gaurav Gera, the nerdy Nandu, appeared unlike himself on TV and danced wildly to the beats of the discotheque. Stars from the MTV India serial Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi who were also spotted 'enjoying' themselves.

Indeed, this night was a rambunctious gathering of the entire television fraternity. Reel-life rivals or not, all were out to have a fantastic real-life time.
