Actors fighting for maximum footage in shows are not uncommon. Some even accuse their colleagues of role-snatching. This time actors Nikhil Arya and Manav Gohil are at loggerheads. Apparently, Aroona Irani's new show Vaidehi seems to have triggered some unpleasantness between the two. Vaidehi tells the story of a girl who marries a man who later confesses to her about being impotent. This is when another man is introduced in Vaidehi's life. Both men were allegedly approached by Aroona Irani to play the same role.
However, both actors don't see eye-to-eye. "I was approached to play the same character that Manav is now playing," says a disturbed Nikhil. "I didn't walk out of Vaidehi. I admit I was keen to do the show and so was Aroonaji. We've shared a fabulous working relationship during the making of Rabba Ishq Na Hove. I was looking forward to working with her. We had reached the discussion stage when one fine day her production unit just stopped calling me. And the next thing I hear is that Manav Gohil has been signed for the role," says Nikhil.
However, Nikhil's loss turned out to be Manav's gain. Manav is said to be the surprise package in the show and he has already started shooting. The actor claims to be clueless about the entire fracas. "I'm not sure if this is true. I got a call from Aroonaji's production unit and they briefly narrated the role. It sounded good to me and I was on. What happened before I was signed is not my problem," says Manav.
Last week there were rumours about the actors getting into a heated argument over the issue. Nikhil is supposed to have accused some people in Irani's unit about playing dirty with him. "What's the point in talking about all this? I was willing to work with them but they backed out. I can't blame Manav for this at all. There was no argument. I did run into him but since we've never been introduced to each other there was no interaction."
All said and done, Manav has bagged the role and is extremely excited.
