Sanjay Dutt, who is close friends with Ajay Devgn, has gone all out to make up for the debacle of "Rascals", their latest film together. The actor reveals, "I have just bought the rights of "Badri" (for an estimated 40 lakh), a super-hit Telugu action film, and gifted it to Ajay. I want to compensate him well. He can decide how and what to do with the film, who will be its director and so on. I feel I let him down in "Rascals", especially after we did a hit like "All the Best". He is more than family to me and I should have looked into all aspects of the film. It is my fault, and I apologize to him."
'POWER' PICK
Tollywood films seem to be the new flavor in B-Town. Even while Bollywood filmmakers are swooping in on new Telugu hits, Sanjay Dutt chose to buy the rights of "Badri" that was made a decade ago. But then he has his reasons. "Badri" which was made with a 4 crore budget, was such a hit at the BO that it gave actor Pawan Kalyan, the younger brother of Mega Star Chiranjeevi, his first taste of stardom.
It was also Puri Jagannath's debut directorial venture and he started the popular trend in the South of infusing a certain realism and daredevilry into the action sequences. The director, who was busy with the pre-release work of the Mahesh Babu starrer "Businessman" was unavailable for comment. The producer of 'Badri', T Trivikrama Rao, died a few years ago.
The film starred Ameesha Patel and Renu Desai, who is currently Pawan Kalyan's wife.
