The tension in the green rooms before the results of the first gala were announced was at an all time high. Each of the six male contestants was hoping that his would not be the name called upon to leave the spotlight.
Sonu Nigam tried to lighten up the atmosphere on the sets with an imitation of Karunya when he heard that he received the highest votes out of all the contestants!
It was nail biting tension for the five female contestants last week when results of the second gala were announced.

If it's Valentine's week, can cupid be far behind? While Indian Idol contestants Meenal and Amey's 'friendship' is becoming more apparent to everyone, they were seen catching a quiet moment together on V-Day.

Biggest Fear: Amey Date
My toughest contender would be Amey because he is a good singer & has experience behind him. He has the X factor & the mass appeal he has a great fan following. He is really caring. He will not show that part of his personality in front of anybody because he is this absolutely quiet person. But when it comes to helping anybody, or taking care of people around him, he is always there.
My edge:
Something that I have & he doesn't is that though he is a very good singer and has an excellent voice, that Marathi accent in his voice affects his singing. He doesn't have a flexible voice. On the other hand, I can sing all type of songs like Punjabi, Western, Romantic & even songs with a high range
Best Buddy:
Meenal is my best friend. Her being voted out is the greatest lost for me because I was not expecting this to happen. All three of us -- Antara , Meenal and I -- are best friends and we all were in the danger zone this time. Meenal is like the Female version of Karunya. She thinks like me.

Antara is perfect Idol material. She has the voice, looks and the appeal to be the next Idol. She is sharp, has a good voice and her interaction with the public is pretty strong. She is a complete package.
My edge:
The only negative point that Antara has is that she cries a lot in front of the camera. She gets hyper very fast and she should stop doing that if she wants to go far.
Best Buddy:

Amey is a good singer, he's got a great fan following and the judges also appreciate him. He has this sweet & cute personality and is like this boy next door that even your mom will be happy to meet. He has a positive attitude towards life, is cool & mature.

Amey is egoistic. He argues a lot, is self-obsessed & seems confused at times.
Best Buddy:
When Panna was voted out, that was the saddest moment far me in this whole journey because a good singer was voted out & others who were not even worth being here were in.

The lights are bright, there's music in the background, press and radio journalists grappling for interviews. Antara's make up is being touched up constantly; Sandeep is hiding in the washroom. Amey, Anuj and Karunya are practicing while waiting for their photo shoot…a typical scene on the sets of Indian Idol. The Five finalists now hang out in two distinct groups. Karunya and Antara are best friends, while Sandeep, Anuj and Amey stick together. 'Anuj is the closest to me because whenever he has any problem, whatever it may be -- personal or related to singing -- he always confesses to me,' said Amey, who is friendly with everyone and keeps everyone in high spirits. Anuj, Amey and Sandeep had gelled right from the beginning of the galas and now with Anuj back on the show, The Three Musketeers are having a blast. Farah Khan seems to have taken Antara under her wing, as she's the only girl left on the show among four boys. 'Farah Ji is like a God Mother to me. It's because of her tips and help that my makeover has happened so well,' said Antara about her favourite judge. After Antara's last performance in a beautiful gown she actually went up to her and called her India's Britney Spears! Antara still misses Panna, who she had a soft corner for, and takes his opinion on the songs she sings. Panna has started doing stage shows and has been booked for the entire month in China and Dubai.Amey's friendly and helpful attitude has made him the "leader" of the group, who everyone turns to when they need a shoulder to cry on or a piece of sane advice. The opinion of my family matters the most. Before I came to Idol, my parents and younger sister would watch me sing at home and give me feedback.

Idol is full of beautiful memories; every day is a new day for us. We are all like one big family and every moment we spend together is special.
What I'll miss..
If I get voted out of Indian Idol, I will miss the rush that I get when I perform on stage in front an audience. I've always dreamt of the thrill of people shouting out my name when they see me and of me singing for the people.

My mother's opinion matters not only because she is my mother, but also because she is a good singer herself and gives me constructive criticism. The most beautiful moment is when I come on stage & after my performance I hear the whole crowd sitting in the stadium & waving to me or just calling out my name.
What I'll miss..
If I get voted out of the show, I will miss my friends here, who are more like a family to me. I will also miss the stage and the Judges. I will miss every moment of this wonderful journey.

What I'll miss..
I will miss every aspect of the show if I get voted out. But most of all, I think I'll miss the exposure that we have got to the industry greats. The Judges, Celebrities and Music Directors who we have met have taught us so much through their advice and criticism. All this is taken in the right spirit and we try to improve our performances based on what they tell us.

After the hungama of Amey being voted out on Indian Idol, the remaining contestants were shaken up. Their faith in the public diminished and they each hoped that the best and most deserving singer be retained on the show.
Anuj was in the thick of controversy as the judges openly supported Amey in front of him. However, he said that everything happened so fast that he couldn't even think straight until the show was over. "I felt later that I should have walked off the stage instead of the judges and should have offered my place for Amey. I wanted to tell him that he deserved my place, but could not at that moment because I was so dumbfounded," said Anuj. "As for the voting system, it is a format of the show and if a rematch must be held for Amey I think it should have also been held for other great singers like Meenal, Antara, Monali and others."
As the three finalists prepared to face the lights, camera and action on Tuesdays' show, the fun in the green rooms backstage was at its peak.
Anxiety about the results was evident, but so was the masti that continued with Anuj, Sandeep and Karunya. The three boys got a new look and new haircuts and had great fun teasing one another about it. While Karunya was game for the experiment, Sandeep was insecure about his new look and kept asking the opinion of every passer by. Anuj, of course, could not resist teasing Sandeep, and called him a rooster! Anuj himself, who had never changed his hairstyle before, finally took the plunge and was very happy with his new crop. Once the results were announced (Anuj was voted out), Sandeep broke down. He had grown very close to Anuj in the last few weeks. Karunya, however, seemed more objective in his emotion as he had expected Anuj to be voted out.While Anuj closed the Indian Idol chapter of his life, Sandeep and Karunya are one step closer to the big dream. The two finalists will soon be singing songs composed especially for them by Sandeep Chowta and Sameer.
