Lohri is a very popular Punjabi festival or a seasonal festival which marks the agricultural winter. It is associated with the harvest of crops namely rabi crops. It is celebrated throughout many countries mainly Punjab,Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu.

During the day, children go from door to door and are given sweets and savories, or sometimes money. The collections are known as Lohri and it is then distributed at night during the festival.
The bonfire ceremony is arranged and lit at sunset. People toss sesame seeds, gur, sugar-candy and rewaries [jaggery] in the bonfire, sit around it, sing and dance till the fire dies out. Some people perform a prayer while going around the bonfire.
