I dont think they can ruin your life unless yu allow them to. But on the other hand people are influenced by heroes in movies as they are usually larger than life and perhaps there are people who end up aping them. Anyway of the two I think TV has far more potential to ruin as watching a movie takes more effort on our part where as the characters in soaps in TV are daily guests in our homes...
