TAKE the current crop of idealistic sons on the small screen and Hiten Tejwani wins hands down as the most favourite beta. So, from playing a spoilt brat Pratham in Kutumb to the youngest son in Ghar Ek Mandir, Tejwani has indeed come a long way and promises to offer much more.

The popular Karan Virani aka Tejwani was in the city on June 18 at the Yash Lawns in Bibvewadi. Invited by Hriday Mitra Prathisthan and Lions District 323 D-2 to distribute cheques to 25 heart patients for their surgery, Tejwani was all smiles for being instrumental in such a worthy cause.

"It is a good feeling. The heart is a vital organ and I am very happy that I could be a part of this function. Thanks to Natassha (his co-star in Kkavyanjali) who could not make it," says Tejwani who had happily filled in for the original chief guest. So, what does the actor do to stay fit? "Whenever I get a chance from my hectic schedule I workout. Also, drink enough water and have food on time," he suggests. Tejwani came into the limelight at the age of 26 with his first serial Ghar Ek Mandir, but gained recognition with his character Pratham in the serial Kutumb. Later, with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Tejwani had no looking back and his popularity as the good son soared high. About his character Karan, he says, "Karan suffers a lot in reel life. Luckily, I have never endured so much hardship. He is always unhappy. Well I am very happy in my life." With serials like Kkavyanjali and Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai in his kitty and both daily soaps from the Balaji stable, ask the actor if he plans to work outside the K territory and he reveals, "I do not need to work out of Balaji Telefilms. I have different characters to play and there is no time since I work 30 days a month." The actor, who also appeared in a small role in the film Krishna Cottage wants to do films in near future. He believes that for an actor to grow professionally, it is important to do films. "It is very important for one to be multi-talented, coupled with a good physique," he says.

Tejwani loves Pune for its natural beauty and pleasant climate
