Sasha was very excited to come to Kolkata. Initially after Geet had left she had become a bit depressed with MSK's attitude, his aloofness. She had then thought to give him some time after which he will be back to being the same person that he had earlier been. She had wanted to be in the team for this new project that MSK seems so involved with in Kolkata, but he had told her to stay back in Delhi and see to it that everything is running smoothly there. Sitting back in her seat in the plane, Sasha frowned when she remembered how all communication between MK and herself had been done through Adi. Somehow whenever she had wanted to speak to MK he had been unavailable. Sasha shrugged off this thinking, MK has been known to become very focused whenever he wanted to acquire or achieve something. So this was not at all unusual.
Her flight landed at around 8pm in Kolkata and as soon as she switched on her cell she tried to call MK, but he wasn't answering. Then she called Adi, very reluctantly, but he was also unavailable. Sasha checked into a hotel and prepared to spend a very lonely evening.

Maan got up in the morning and while in the shower he realised he was humming. He was actually humming! He was so startled by his own action that he stopped and stood under the spray for some time. Maan realised that he felt lighter----- as if he had gained freedom. There wasn't any of the burden or pressure he always felt whenever he used to think about Sameera or the time he had spent with her. He felt lighter of heart with the apprehension gone that had always eaten at his subconscious mind whenever he used to think that one day he would have to tell Geet everything and she too will think him to be guilty of bringing about the death of his only sister. Thinking of Annie, did bring about the pain of her loss, but now he could think of her or mourn her loss without the dark emotion of guilt that he had always felt clouding his heart.
Maan started dressing for the day.
He smiled remembering how Geet had so wonderfully understood everything that he had wanted to say, even understanding all that he had left unsaid. His Geet who always loved to spring through everything in her normal days, interrupting in every third sentence that he spoke, had been so grave and sober giving him the opportunity to empty his mind and heart. She never ceased to amaze him. Every time when he thought he had her figured out, she revealed some other depth in her that was yet to be explored by him.
"Adi----Adi!"
"Ye'yesss'Sir, Maan Sir!" Adi came skidding to a halt in front of him from across the sitting room, with a shirt in one hand and a shoe in the other.
Maan frowned at the two items in Adi's hands and Adi immediately hid them behind his back.
"I am not late sir, I know---- I looked at the clock and it is just 7 o'clock now (Adi's voice was high pitched. He controlled it and murmured)------ and I had thought I would get ready a little early, before you----- but you are-----." Adi trailed off looking almost accusingly at MSK buttoning his vest.
"Ok. So? I thought I'll also get ready a little early today."
"But Maan Sir, Geet toh itni jaldi nahi aayegi ,who toh Ved Sir ke saath aati hai na."
Maan was in the process of sliding his belt through the hoops of his trouser, he immediately turned to face in the opposite direction.
"Toh? I know Geet won't come this early, I just wanted to go to the office a little earlier than the others."
'Damn it!' Maan thought, 'Why am I feeling so embarrassed? My face is also heating up. Why can't I go to the office for the express purpose of working?'
Maan very conveniently forgot that he had been actually doing everything a bit early in his eagerness to see Geet. MSK walked off without looking at Adi towards the breakfast table.
Adi remained standing on the spot calling himself all kinds of fools. 'Why do I always manage to put my foot in my mouth?'
">He walked to the table but kept standing trying to gauze whether his boss was angry or not.
"Are you going to eat anything or just stand there?"
"Yyes Maan Sir!"
"Adi!"
"Yes Sir?"
"Do you know any flower shops which are open in this area at this time?"
"Ffflower Shop Sir?" Adi tried to understand what his ears had just heard.
"Yes, flower shop Adi, a place where people buy and sell flowers!"
"Right Sir, Flower shop Sir, No sir, I don't know any here other than the one at our hotel which boasts of a wonderful collection______ but it will open at 8.30am."
"Right!"
Maan debated what to do.
"Adi I need you to do something for me------." And he told Adi something.
The more Adi heard the bigger his eyes became.
"Ok Sir, no problem."
"I will expect you in the office by 9am. Is that ok?"
Adi nodded. MSK left for his office and Adi came out of his shock.
"WOW! Maan Sir! Love changes people so much."
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Maan entered the office and went straight to Geet's cabin. He had lied to Adi when he had said that he had some important work to do. Even though he knew Geet won't be in before 8.30 at the earliest still he had wanted to come here as soon as possible as he could feel her essence here. What could be her wish that she had wanted to do with him in Delhi and hadn't ever told him before?
He sat down with some files in his cabin but still couldn't concentrate. This unrest, this impatience was something so alien to his character that he himself was amused.
Geet came in at exactly 8.15. She had literally dogged Ved all the way since morning about some imaginary file that she had to review before sending it to the clients. But Ved being Ved moved at his own sweet pace and so all she could manage was to come in 15 minutes earlier than usual. She had wanted to do something for Maan sir today before he arrived, but when she went to her cabin to keep her bag_____ there was a bunch of red roses waiting on her desk with his note attached to them.
"Good Morning Geet! I am waiting to know what your wish is for today."
Geet smiled. Mr. Maan Singh Khurana was in for a surprise!
MSK answered a knock on his door and Geet came in bearing a tray and four cups. Ved, MSK and Adi were going through a budget problem.
"Good Morning Maan Sir."
"Good Morning Adi sir."
"Good morning Geet!" they both answered her. Geet placed the tray on the table and offered a cup to Adi and Ved first. Then she took a cup and placed it by MSK's elbow, without saying anything, she smiled and went to sit down with her own cup.
Adi leaned close to her and whispered, "Geet boss ne coffee peena chod diya hai."
But even as he said it, MSK lifted his cup and with a strange expression on his face took a sip of his coffee. Adi gawked and then his eye widened as he put two and two together.
"Geet I never knew you can make such great coffee." Ved said after his first sip.
Geet just smiled and acknowledged the compliment. Her complete focus was on Maan who was still sipping his coffee looking at no one else but at the cup he held in his hands. After his fourth or fifth sip, Maan looked up at Geet and raised his cup just a fraction, as if in salute______ and Geet nodded. This silent communication wasn't lost on Ved and he frowned, but didn't let on that he had seen anything.
The morning passed very quickly. Maan was getting very impatient with Geet keeping her wish a big secret and he started imagining what it could be. It was during lunch time that the peon brought a piece of paper to him from Geet.
On it was written________ "Will you go to a movie with me?"
Maan stared at the question for a few seconds, totally baffled . so this was her wish! Movie?
He immediately called Geet on her cell.
"Ji Maan Sir keheyea."
"You want to go to see a movie?"
"Yes."
"This is the wish which you hadn't ever told me!"
"Yes."
"Ok fine tell me which movie you want to go to and I will organize a private screening for us."
"NO."
"What NO?"
"We will not see a movie at a private screening, rather we will see the movie like every other person. You will stand in queue and buy us ticket and we will see the movie with all the other audiences in a movie theater."
"HUH!"
"But Geet I have never done this."
"I know, that is the reason I want you with me like any normal person two friends watching a movie."
"Friends!"
"OK not just friends, but then what do I call u or this relationship of ours?"
"aahhmm----."
"Hey I know Maan Sir what people call this."
"What?"
"You-----r----- my----- Boyfriend!" Geet spaced out all the words and the moment she finished talking she cut the call and giggled.
"WHAT!"
'Geet has gone nuts, did she actually call me her boyfriend!' but even with his outrage, a smile tugged at the corner of Maan's lips. 'She is crazy.'
Maan came out and stood beside his car at exactly 4.30pm as Geet had directed. She had specifically asked him not to come out with her at the same time so that no one can see them. He felt very ridiculous with all this secrecy but still he did as she had stipulated. At 4.40, ten minutes later Geet came out of the basement lift and came and sat in his car.
"Can you tell me why we are sneaking around like this?" Maan asked her no longer able to contain himself.
"Becoz I don't want any office gossip and moreover it won't help in your plan if Sasha comes to know about us being together or that you are my BOYFRIEND now."
Geet deliberately stressed the word knowing it would irritate him.
"Can you refrain from calling me THAT please?"
"But why Maan Sir, we are in a relationship, we love each other, we are sneaking around and yes! We are going to the movies just like what boyfriends and their girlfriends do."
Maan couldn't stop himself from laughing out loud with all her logic.
"This is so ridiculous Geet!"
">Geet sat back and watched him laugh so freely. She had wanted this very thing for him. His whole face was transformed and he looked years younger. Her heart cried out for the young Maan who had forgotten to laugh in his run to become famous and responsible.
"Hey it is not ridiculous, do u have a better word for it?" she challenged back.
They arrived at a renowned mall and there Maan Singh Khurana for the first time stood in a queue and bought two tickets for a movie.
Sitting in a darkened corner of a movie hall surrounded by loads of people Maan realised that she made him feel young, foolishly young and irresponsible. With a huge barrel of popcorn on his lap and her sitting by his side, the experience was something delightfully new. As he looked back over is life, Maan could remember no time when he had not done anything productive, be it conducting board meetings, playing tennis, swimming or flying--------- everything in his life had had an express purpose, either to make KC more successful, or to stay fit and healthy or to minimize his travel time nor be dependent on anyone else for it_______ but irresponsible, just for the fun of it? Never that. Having a multimillion dollar company behind him had ingrained in him a very demanding sense of obligation. There had always been the unspoken pressure to maintain that standard_________ for himself and for the family business.
Impulsiveness had never been part of his style. But here he was sitting in this dark theater watching a movie he wasn't even following wholeheartedly. He'd wanted to fulfill whatever wish Geet would have told him, be it whatever _____ he had even thought about some outrageous ones for example to go and dine in some of the best restaurants in Singapore or Malaysia------- somewhere he could fly her himself and be back too in a day, but his Geet wanted to watch a movie. But he should have known that a box of popcorn and a movie was more her style. She loved and found happiness in simple things. It was this style________ the contrast of elegance and simplicity________ that had drawn him to her from the very first. He knew, without question that there would never be another woman who would move him in the same way.
Geet leaned towards him. "Thank You."
"Huum?"
"Thank You," she whispered under the dialogue on the screen.
"Because I found a dreadful movie?"
Geet chuckled and reached for more popcorn. "It is not dreadful, it is so sweet and romantic."
"Its terrible, how can you see something so gooey?"
"Antisocial!"
"No, I am not, unrealistic!"
Geet laughed out. "No, I know all the realistic facts of life, but I still love to see people so much in love."
"Really? Do u seriously like all this romantic things?"
"Yup! Definitely."
Maan looked at the screen for the first time with some attention.
"Maan?"
"Huh!" 'she had called him by his name! 'Yes!"
"Raise your arm will you?" and so saying Geet tucked her arm through his and settled back to watch the rest of the movie. She had debated with herself for a very long time thinking whether she should do this, but then she told herself, this much was allowed.
">
Maan looked at the ease with which she had interlocked her arm with his. He gulped. He had been maintaining a strictly 'no touch' rule as he didn't want to give her the idea that he had just a physical need for her like the last time. He didn't want to repeat the mistake. He wanted to let her know how much he loved her and was ready to wait for their wedding till he could quench this desire that he felt whenever he saw her. Sitting beside her in this dark hall, her mild perfume drifting towards him, her head so near to his------- if he would just turn his head he could kiss her right now--------
Maan fidgeted________ "God Maan control yourself!"
They should just get married asap. The thought brought on the doubt tat he still felt somewhere at the corner of his heart------- he will have to ask her and make her understand that 'marriage' is something which is best for them. He would have to convince her if she had any doubts in that department. "God" she had never told him she wanted to marry him, what if she just didn't want marriage?
"Calm down Maan. Until you ask her, you will never know."
"Did you say something?"
"huh! No!"
Geet rested her head on his shoulders, content with him there with her. Maan couldn't resist putting his cheek on her hair. Soft, fresh. Just the touch of that and no more could make him want her unreasonably. He never felt stronger than when he was with her. He never felt more vulnerable. Geet felt the light touch on her head and without a thought in her head she turned her head to look at him. His eyes were so intense with whatever he was thinking. Geet felt her breath clog in her throat.
Maan didn't hear the explosion of sound and music from the speakers. Geet didn't see the sudden kaleidoscope of color and movement on the screen. Both their hearts beating in unison they stared at each other.
'Geet I want to kiss you' Maan thought.
'Who's stopping you Maan Sir?' Geet's heart answered.
"Excuse me." The young usher, who came to see that everyone exited before the cleaning crew came in shifted his feet in the aisle. Then he cleared his throat. "Excuse me."
Glancing up Maan saw that the house lights were on the screen was blank. After a surprised moment Geet looked down muffling a laugh.
"Movie's over." The young boy said comfortably. He was fresh in college and did this job for some extra money. For anybody else he would have been very rude. But there was something very authoritive in this man sitting there in his formals of shirt, trousers, tie and vest.
Glancing at Geet, he decided that any man would lose interest in a movie with someone like her around. Then Maan stood, tall, broad shouldered, with that one aloofly raised eyebrow. The boy swallowed.
"Yes?"
"Ah_____ that's the rule, you know. The manager_______"
"And reasonable enough," Maan interrupted when he noticed the boy's Adam's apple working.
"We will just take the popcorn along." Geet said as she rose. She tucked the barrel of popcorn under one arm and slid the other through Maan's. "Have a nice evening," she called out over her shoulder to the usher as they walked out. This made the boy give her a big smile which didn't go unnoticed by Maan. He frowned at Geet.
"What?" she asked him noticing his expression.
"Nothing."
"Poor guy, he thought you were going to do something to him."
"The thought crossed my mind, very briefly."
"Long enough to make him nervous. But why did you scare him anyway? He meant no harm. He was just a college boy."
"And you look like just a college girl just in." Maan murmured.
"What? Did you say something?"
Maan just shook his head still feeling an unreasonable anger at the way the boy had admired Geet.
"You do know what he had thought right?" Geet said standing beside the car.
"What?"
"That we are having an illicit affair. The kind where your wife thinks you're at the office and my husband thinks I'm shopping."
Maan stared at her as if she had lost her mind.
"What!"
"Yeah look at you, who comes to a movie wearing this." Geet gestured to his attire.
Maan looked at his clothes and then back at her.
"Meaning?"
"Meaning we will have to do this again, but with you in far casual clothes than this."
"OK." Maan said.
Now it was Geet's turn to be surprised to see him agreeing so easily. She had thought, he would grumble or at least find some way not to repeat the experience, but he had agreed so quickly. She didn't know what to make out of him.
"Sasha is here." Maan told her gravely. "See she had given me 8 missed calls. I left the cell in the car."
Geet's eyes took on a different light with the mention of Sasha. Oh! How she wished to put their plan into action. But she would have to wait for tomorrow.
"Geet get in, we will have to meet with Adi and talk some more about what to do."
Geet had been leaning on the car, now she turned and looked at his costly car and made a face. "hummmhhh!" she exhaled.
">"What does that expression mean?"
"Nothing!"
Geet slid on to the passenger side and buckled her seat belt.
"Tell me Geet, you just now thought something."
"You won't like it."
"No problem, just tell me, it has something to do with this car right? You don't like this particular one? I have another here, or if you want then we can go tomorrow and buy whatever make and model you prefer."
"Hey! Stop! this isn't what I meant." Geet burst out laughing.
"Then what is it?"
"You know when I was in the 12th standard or rather when I went to college for the first time, whenever I saw my friends going off with their boyfriends, I also dreamt about something."
Maan grimaced on the word 'boyfriend', "Ok what was the dream?"
"You won't laugh, OK?"
"I promise I won't laugh, just tell me."
"I used to wish or daydream that whenever I would fall in love with someone, we would go to movies and different places and I will be riding with him at the back of his bike. The very thought was so romantic and dreamy. So, just now I remembered how childish I was." Geet finished looking straight ahead, becoming self-conscious.
Maan looked at her one more moment and then turned and started the car. After sometime they started to talk about the plan that they had thought about for Sasha, the time had come to put it into action.

Link to chapter no 35 & 36...
1st... I am first after long time 😃
Hey Sneha,
1st random quote was Fantabulous. I think I have read it somewhere else also but reading it here in this situation increased the impact.
Sasha prepared for lonely evening but nothing can prepare her for upcoming events.
Loved Adi's stammering & his putting his foot in his mouth 😆 was awesome. OMG, MSK was blushing 😳🤣.
Ved noticed something fishy but decided to ignore & I am thinking, how long he will take to add up things just the way Adi found about Maan's abandoning coffee & other things mystery.
Hmm, little things giving happiness to Geet can be big for Maan because he wants her to be happy so quickly agreed to go to another movie & loved how he was JEALOUS & scared the boy for eying Geet.
Geet might show that she deems her dream Childish now but I think Maan will make it come true.
Sasha was trying his phone & Maan did not had it with him. What was Adi upto? Maybe preparing for what Maan instructed him to do in the morning. 🤓 Maan was thinking about marriage while watching movie. So maybe, it's safe to think that soon he will be proposing to Geet. 😃
Waiting Waiting 😛
