The camp is divided! 😆
Half of you want Maan & Geet to elope so they can live a new life away from everyone.
Half of you believe it's not in MSK's nature to run, & that it would make Geet look bad.

What is thine solution, I hear ye ask?

Read on & find out 😳

(Apologies for the awful Shakespeare. Catching up on some English reading has clearly gotten to me.)

Chapter 17 - Divided

"What?" Geet asked, unable to register the words Maan was saying.

"Let's elope. Me & you. I'm tired, Geet. I'm tired of trying to do what is right by society, right by everyone's eyes, what is deemed acceptable. I want me & you to go somewhere far away where no one knows us, where I don't have to be the cold & ruthless Maan Singh Khurana. Where you don't have to be the damaged & lonely Geet Handa."

Geet blinked once, then fluttered her eyes away from Maan, looking down.

"Geet?"

"Do you not believe in us, Maan?" she whispered, biting her lip. "Do you not believe that we can stand against society, that we can ignore what everyone else says & be happy together?"

"I have believed in us from the first day I met you. But I cannot stand being held under the microscope any longer. All my life, I've felt like I've been observed, having to maintain an image, a reputation because I come from an aristocratic family. Is it wrong to want to break free from that with the one I love?"

"I understand, Maan," Geet whispered, looking up at him, her eyes twinkling with tears. "But all my life I've been outcast, thrown aside. I've been left alone & I've lost any happiness I may have enjoyed for a little while. Is it wrong of me to want to stay here, with Madhavi & Amelia, to feel like I belong?"

"Wouldn't you feel like you belong with me?" He caressed her cheek softly.

"It is when I am with you that I feel most belonged, most loved. But as long as we are side by side, I feel like we can face anyone and anything. If we eloped, everyone would assume I led you astray."

"People can assume what they like. I could care less."

"I am aware of that. But I truly feel like we could be happy here, in the estate. If we did elope, what would happen to Madhavi and Yash?"

"They could remain in the estate, take care of it."

"And Amelia?"

Maan's hand stilled on her cheek.

"She... she could... well I suppose she would come with us."

A small smile crept on Geet's face. "She really is adorable once you get to know her."

"Hmm," was the only reply that came from Maan.

Geet's heart swelled with the immense happiness she felt at this moment in time. It was as if her whole life had been building up to this feeling, the emotions, the everlasting love she felt for Maan.
The best part was she knew he felt exactly the same. That was all she ever longed for; to love & be loved in return.

Maan looked at Geet to see her smiling up at him joyfully.

"You're so beautiful," he whispered, staring at her in awe. She was an ethereal angel, bringing an aura of warmth & comfort wherever she went. He wanted to be beside her forever & always, never letting her go, never letting her out of sight.

She blushed, looked down then looked back up at Maan, to see him looking at her steadily, as if he was contemplating something.

"Maan?" she whispered, her heartbeat picking up its pace once more, as she anticipated something was about to come next.

He held her hand, locking her fingers with his.

"I want to spend the rest of my life with you & you only. Will you marry me?"

Geet's eyes widened. She stared at him for the best part of a minute, shell shocked.

"Geet?"

"Did-did you just propose..." she trailed off.

Maan smiled. "I believe I did."

"But-but you're-"

"Already engaged? Unfortunately, yes. But I will call that off first thing in the morning. I don't wish to remain in a relationship with that woman a moment longer when my heart belongs to you."

Geet gulped. She was elated - happiness coursed through her like she had never experienced before. But she feared disapproval, and the inevitable anger of the Malhotras.

"They will be so angry," she said, her voice small. "The Malhotras will be so angry."

"Do you forget your own words so easily?" Maan asked. "Not too long ago, you said yourself as long as we were together, we would face anything."

And she knew he was right. She had full faith in his words, in his love. Alone, she was weak. But when Maan was by her side, she could overcome any problem.

"Do you want to marry me, Geet?" he asked, worried if he had acted hastily. Overcome with his love for her, he had forgotten how fragile her thoughts were. What seemed natural to him often appeared impulsive to her. He gulped down his fear, praying he wouldn't hear a no.

Instead, she nodded once, smiling shyly. Maan pulled her up from the bed so he was no longer hovering over her, but rather they were sat side by side. He took her hands in his & placed a kiss on the finger where the ring would eventually reside.

A tear escaped down Geet's cheek as she suddenly embraced Maan, her head resting on his chest, hearing his uneven, rapid heartbeat.

"I love you too," she murmured against his skin, as she felt him wrap his arms around her tight, and his chin rested on her head, where it belonged.

But as usual, more twists & turns to come. Nothing is as it seems.

P.S. this isn't the last update til Feburary, don't fret 😆
That update will be next week, & I shall let you know at the end of the chapter as well.

Fozia 🤗...thank u for the double updates and PM...what can i say...sighhh...they were so romantic and dreamy 😍...the great MSK wants to run away with his Geet 😲...what a change in the dhust danav...could understand his reasoning...but i agree with Geets POV...together Maaneet can face anything...that is the magic of their love and trust in each other...hope they stay strong when all the twists and turns come...plz continue...TC 😊
