Virasat: New serial, old story

Vashi2Panvel.com: Navi Mumbai: June 14:Sangita Ghosh, considered one of the hottest women on television, is playing a new role. That of the along with Rohit Roy in Viraasat--Nafrat Ke Khel Mein, Do Dilon Ki Chahat on Star Plus. Viraasat which is a B.R. Films' Production has a stellar cast comprising Kiran Kumar, Deepak Qazir, Aman Verma, Amarr Upadhyay, Jayati Bhatia, Pooja Rawal Ghai. With a prime time slot of 9 pm Viraasat will be replacing Milee which has finally wrapped with its logical conclusion.

As the title suggests Viraasat is the story of two warring families the Lambas Vs the Kharbandas. Rahul Lamba played by Rohit Roy and Priyanka Kharbanda played by Sangita Ghosh are madly in love with each other but as all stories have a twist, here too, the two lovers are bound by an age old enmity between their warring families.

Mr. Deepak Segal, EVP, Content, Star India Pvt. Ltd, says, "Viraasat is the biggest line-up of television stars ever on the small screen. Like always, our endeavour is to dole out a classic family entertainer as it goes on to set its own mark."

At the screening of the first episode at B.R. studios the star cast of Viraasat was present to discuss their characters with the press.

Rohit Roy who is already the heartthrob of television viewers says, "I have sky high expectations from Viraasat. My character Rahul Lamba is a loveable character, very positive, believes in love, honesty and truth. Basically if you follow truth you can tackle any problem." Rohit is extremely excited as this is the first time that he is playing a romantic role on screen. On the sets Rohit says that he is very close to Kiran Kumar who plays his father. Rohit further emphasizes, "I identify a lot with my character as it is a lover boy character." On the contrary Sangeeta Ghosh says, "I don't identify with my character Priyanka and I am not like her. The real Sangeeta Ghosh is a mystery and it is good to remain a mystery." Sangeeta says that she is very close to Jayati Bhatia who plays Meera Lamba and Pooja Ghai Rawal who plays Anoushka Lamba. Sangeeta has no qualms to further add that she is very close to the guys on the sets too and that she is not scared of being linked to any of them, she says, "I have been linked with many people but it doesn't bother me. It just goes above my head."

Amar Upadhayay (Kunal Kharbanda) plays Priyanka's elder brother, "I am an IAS officer with a lot of responsibility. I don't go to fight unless I am instigated to do so. My character is politically powerful. Aman Verma and me try to be better than each other in this serial. Mine is a very positive character and all major decisions revolve around me."

The serial has gone on air on June 12. Whether Virasat will go down well with the audience or not, remains to be seen.
