Why do artists(be it actor, singer, dancer, painter, sculptor, poet) keep falling in love again and again? They are known to be the most romantic persons, are they very much impractical? Do they dwell in an world which is above realism? Why do you think(if at all think) that they are different from common men in this matter?

my art teacher always tells us that artists have the habit of thinking that they are in the middle of the universe. thats why they often go through romantic flings. i think about this statement a lot, but i always fail to get it. can u interpret its meaning?

I am talking about great artists, not some one like Jen, Brad or Jolie - like Leonardo da Vinci, Micheal Angello, M.F. Hussain, Woody allen, RabindraNath Tagore, Satyajit Ray, Zakir Hussain, Raj Kapoor, Rekha, Nargis, Kishore Kumar - all pioneers in their fields.

I think it's more than infatuation, it's the inspiration. They are gifted with the talent, through which they attract the opposite sex easily. I guess, when they are in a relationship they try to live it satiated, but then some quality in some other person inspire them to do something new. It's that thirst to create new things, drives them into new relationships. The artists have an open mind and some way or other they express that through their art. They hardly control their feelings unlike us who are more practical and restrained.

Artists or celebrities are living a different life than us. At a human level we are all the same, but they lead a compeltely different life style. An average person has 8 to 5 job or a set schedule. You can take time out for your girlfriend, boyfriend, or your wife. Besides going to work, couples get to spend a lot of time together. Now if you look at celebrities, they have unpredicatable working hours. They might have to go out of the state for days or months. In these conditions, it's hard to develop an emotional bond with your spouse. There are always exceptions, but for many of the celebrities, their professional life, fame, and money is more important.
If you look in Indian movie actors...like Rishi Kapoor and neetu singh...their marriage worked because she stopped working after marriage. If Neetu Singh was a carrer oriented woman, it would have been harder for their marriage to live this long. Same thing goes for Sharmile Tagore and Babita. Now Nargis was an exception...

Yes, I agree they are insensitive to others feelings and self-centred, since they like to live in their own world.

Kishore Kumar was first married to Ruma Guha-Thakurta, then he left her for Madhubala. There was even rumours about him and Vaijayantimala, who later married Dr. Bali who was a close friend of KK.

Raj Kapur had a strong affair with Padmini.

Satyajit Ray being married had affair with Madhabi Chatterjee(a Bengali actress), with whom he did some notable films.

Rabindranath wrote that in his life at different stages he met the female characters who inspired him in a big way. Rabindranath was inspired by his sister-in-law to write "Charulata", even at a later stage of his age(60's) he was charmed by a Venezuelian lady and his art-work was inspired by her. These are just two examples.

My topic is "Why do artists keep fall'n in love?", and the possible explanation I could get from my side is it somehow may have inspired their work(the pain, the happiness)and also they dare to express their feelings unlike us. Their life is engrossed with their own feelings and emotions, and can go to any extent to express that to the world. We are more controlled and practical, and care about others happiness too.

I agree somewhat to what you say.

Even Nitu Singh used to visit sets when Rishi-Juhi worked together. They even had a police case. Even Dharmenra-Jaya Prada, Dharmendra-Anita Raj were involved even if for a small period.

I guess the difference between them and a common man is, even if we like some qualities in someone other than our partner, we usually don't cross the limits. Here we start using our brain. When it comes to artists heart rules for them.

Umnn.....if you are talking of artists, then Jennifer Anniston, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would qualify too,as they are the top most layer of the popular artists in the world, especially if we are talking of mediocre artists like Rishi Kapoor and neetu Singh and the likes. Their lives aren't very different from the Rekhas and the Vaijantimalas of India, maybe more so, because Jolie definitely has made a world of difference with her charitable work with the children all over the world.

Artists generally live in a different plane than the most of us. It is very often said that the most brilliant of them actually lack some basic social abilities, like bonding with any one person. They could actually be called crazy at times, if they did not utilise their crazyness to create something.

Most of the artists create an imaginative world, where they exist with their created characters. Sometimes it gets difficult for them to touch base with whom they themselves are. Actors normally have a very close body contact with their co artists. As a result, due to basic hormonal reactions, attractions happen. It's a well known fact that many star wives ignore or chose to over look occasional flings, as they understand the pressure. It almost always ends in a break up, but then very few survive the 'open' marriages. Many star couple have open marriages, and at times, this very thing holds them together, as they deem the freedom within their marriage as the most important thing.
