sets of Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, a drama
based on Dhoop Kinare on Sony
Entertainment Television aired every
Monday to Friday at 8pm.
It was later than expected. The set up
when I reached took a long time before I
got to see the scene being shot. So while I
twiddled my thumbs, literally, I was eaten
up by mosquitoes at the location. And
there was silence other than the people
working. The cameraman Satish and
Director Mandarr Devasthali were taking a
well deserved eye-shut before they got
back in the fray. The actors were not
around, obviously who wants to leave the
vanity van, to be eaten up by the
mosquitoes. No amount of Kachua Chap
machchar agarbatti can save you.
But then, the set up was ready and Kritika
Kamra playing the lead Dr Nidhi Verma
came first. She saw me, recognised me and
we started chatting before she was called
for the shots. Karan Wahi playing Rohan
with a heart called Raj Kapoor had joined
just minutes after and the rehearsals,
before the shots were to be filmed, began.
Waddya Say?
The professionals that they are, they
understood the requirements, their entry
and exit points and Mandar showed them
the way he wanted them to work on the
scene.
Then everything was sorted, the scene
ready, camera was ready to roll and the
dress that the stylist had picked out for the
scene was something Kritika remembered
she had worn only a couple of episodes
back with a scene with Karan.
One thinks of continuity, what they have
done and whether they are really involved
in the work or they just come, deliver and
leave. I for one saw that they know what
they are doing, what they have done and
want to give more than a 100% to each
shot. That's professionalism.
The stylist got another appropriate dress
and shoot began. And wow, the shot was
okay in one take except for one word which
had been playing on Karan's mind came in
the final shot. He had been corrected by
Kritika and the Assitant Director about the
name of the person but I guess Swami
Vivekand was more stuck than Gautam
Buddha in his head. I am not going to say
more than that about the scene. You will
have to watch the show for that.
But coming to our tete-a-tete. Karan,
Kritika, Mandar, Satish, the stylist and
myself sat and discussed cricket especially
Sachin Tendulkar while Mandar and Karan
exchanged score news every few minutes.
We talked about the not happening
century, the statement on the focus of his
now being on test cricket and of course the
IPL. Why one takes part in that and why
not. A debate ensued and one should know
that Karan is an avid cricket fan and goes to
matches whenever he can. So look out for
him when you go to the stadium for a
match.
Now some tidbits on Karan Wahi. He used
to play for Delhi. He made a conscious
decision to leave a career in cricket for he
knew there were more talented people than
him. Well, I can say gleefully it is TV
industry's gain. He is passionate about
cricket, makes atta maggi for he needs to
watch his weight for now and is a cool
friendly person who is willing to talk to a
stranger like me with ease on subjects from
TV industry to Cricket to anything under the
sun. I did not feel I met him for the first
time but a friend I met up after a long gap.
Till then, don't forget to watch them
in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge.
