Mrinal Deshraj

My family members and those who are close to me call me 'Bakul', which is also the name of a flower. I like this name a lot and I can't relate to my real name as much as I can relate to this one. 'Bakul' has almost become my identity. It's not embarrassing when someone calls me 'Bakul' as only someone close to me would call me that. For me, the name Mrinal sounds fake; it's just for official purposes.


Shital Thakkar

I am called 'Sugar' by my husband because he finds me very sweet. Although if you ask him now, I'm sure his opinion must have changed. My mother calls me 'Mitthu', which again means sweet in Gujarati. It's quite a coincidence that my two pet names mean the same.


Amit Verma

Since my name is already so short, I don't have a pet name as such. My industry friends call me 'Amy'. I wish I had a longer name so it could be shortened to become my pet name.On second thoughts, 'Amy' sounds feminine. But I don't really object to being called Amy in public.

My grandmother affectionately used to call me Baby and that name stuck to me forever. I am called 'Baby' by my family members in public too, but it doesn't embarrass me. However, when I was a teenager I wanted to be treated like a lady and hated to be called 'Baby' in the presence of my friends.

My family members call me 'Puchu' or 'Puchi', which means a peck. And now, even my friends have started calling me by this name. I think, it sounds sweet. I am so used to it that I don't feel awkward to be called by my pet name even in public.

Iam called 'Adoo' by my family members and those who are close to me. I relate to my pet name more than my real name. I like my pet name more and bond better with people who call me 'Adoo'.
