"So this is good bye Geet, from now onwards we will always meet as friends and nothing more. I had to do this today to give a closure to the feeling revolving in my heart for you Geet. So Good Bye and so long" saying this he placed a kiss on her forehead. The kiss was nothing more than a brotherly peck on the forehead.

The day Dev had come back Maan had to go away to Australia for three months. He had got a contract to build a huge 7 star Hotel complex consisting of many individual hotels, cottages, apartments, residential complexes and other necessary buildings which would comprise into a huge world class 7 star Hotel. But their only condition was the construction firm which took the contract would use local materials, local talent and local work force. Dev had no experience whatsoever in the setting up of this kind of huge project and Maan did not trust anyone else to do the job right. To overlook and to setup this huge project Maan would have to stay in Australia for at least three months.
It had been two months and she missed him terribly.
It was the time for Sonalika's Godhbharai (a function like baby shower which is done in other countries) rasm. The Godhbharai rasm was being done in the middle of 7th month. Savitri Devi had decided to do the ritual of Sonalika's Godhbharai in Khurana Mansion. She was a little hesitant to do this but she could not disappoint Sunny also.
Before they could start the preparation for the rasm, Sonalika got a call.
"Geet''. Geet where are you?" Sunny shouted for Geet running all over the place.
"Kya hua Sunny tum itna chilla kyun rahi ho?" Geet replied come out of the kitchen.
"I am going back Geet, I am going back to London. Oh Geet I am so happy, I can't tell you." Sunny was thrilled after hearing the news.
"Today is the happiest day of my life Geet, I wish you would have the same happiness in your life as I am having today." She kept on talking, not giving any chance to Geet to ask the reason for her happiness.
"Geet tum bhi mere saath London chalo na''bahut maaza ayega." She kept on spinning Geet around in her exuberance.
"Par Sunny'.tumhare khushi ka raaz toh baatao" Geet took hold of Sunny's hands to steady her, as she stopped herself from spinning.
"Geet, my husband is alive''alive, can you believe it? I can't tell you how much this news has made me happy. It's beyond me, to express them in words".
Geet was so surprised and shocked to hear that for a moment she thought she has heard something wrong or there was some mistake with her hearing.
"Husband'..you are married?"
"Yes Geet I am married. David and I, married two years ago even though we had been in a relationship for the past 7 years.
"But Maan?"
"Maan and I are friends, Geet."
"But then Maan? I thought you were his girlfriend and you were in a relationship with him", Geet was very confused about the relationship of Maan and Sonalika.
"No Geet, we were never in a relationship. Maan was only helping me. It's a long story but you need to hear this."
"But Sunny you yourself said you had come to know about the baby the previous day only then how did the goons come to know and what would they gain by killing the baby."
"That's was the first question we had thought."
"We?" Geet asked her.
"Yes, Maan and I"
"But just now you said maan and you were not in a relationship. Oh Sunny I am so confused by your relationship. Can you tell me clearly whether you were or are in relationship with Maan?" Geet was frustrated.
"No we are not. And I met Maan again when I had gone shopping."
"One day I had been shopping in the Mall when I was attacked by two armed men. They had wanted to kill me and Geet do you know what the worst part was. The worst part was they not only wanted to kill me but my baby too. I had come to know about the baby the previous morning itself and someone was trying to harm the baby. I could never understand how did those goons had come to know about the baby. But they made their intentions clear when one of them said, "shoot her in the stomach". I would have been dead but for Maan and his timely help. He conquered the armed men by his cleverness. I don't know what he was doing at the Mall but he became my savior that day.
When the armed men had realized they were beaten they ran away, but I had fainted by that time. Maan took me to the hospital and when I regained consciousness I recognized him as David's friend Maan.
I had met Maan around four years ago. David and Maan had met at a party and had instantly clicked together and had become close friends."
"But why would any one want to kill you and why are you saying your husband is alive?"
"David is a journalist. He has always taken the toughest job in the newspaper industry working as a freelancer. Two years ago he wrote an article about underage children and drugs. There he came into contact with children who were abused and were used as couriers carrying drugs for the drug lords.
He wanted to do an article on them and contacted many newspapers but all of them refused. Finally one newspaper agreed to print the article but they wanted facts and not some random numbers picked up offhand. So he decided to trace the source from where the drugs were brought but then he got to know the places where it was grown freely. He started visiting places disguising himself.
He got lot of facts, figures and material for the article. The places the plants were grown, the household industries they were processed in, the places it was stored and the methods it was transported. In the process of collecting material for the article he came across the nexus between the drug lords and politicians. Until now everything was fine. But as he tried digging more into the nexus between the politicians and the druglords they became aware of his snooping.
The more he tired to find out the more dangerous it became for him. About year and a half ago he started getting threats, asking him to back off. But David was persistent if nothing else. He kept on with his work digging and finding more and more dirt. Then around a year ago he was attacked. First it was a mugging, then small accidents would happen around the house warning us about what was to come.
He was so passionate about his work that it would be difficult for him to dissociate himself with any other work but this work became his life's mission. He would say, he wanted to lessen the fear and the hold of these drugs on the small children. When I would request him to back off a bit he would ask me a question to which I had no answer. "Would you like it if your child took drugs and if they are so freely available how would you stop your child to remain free from it?" and I could not answer anything in return as what he asked was right and justified.
This went on day in day out. Sometimes it would become difficult to step out of the house. And suddenly around eight months ago he was kidnapped. I tried my best to find him, asking his journalist friends, taking the help of police and hired some detectives too. But nothing came out, the whole exercise was futile. And in a week's time I received the news about his death. I was heartbroken but I don't know why I had this feeling he was still alive.
Then a week later I started noticing weird people around the house and weird things would be happening too. Sometimes the doors would be open when I returned from outside though I had locked them properly behind me or sometime I would see shadows lurking outside my window. It was around that time that I was attacked and Maan saved me."
"But it still does not answer my doubts Sunny, why were you with Maan and why were you acting as his girlfriend?."
All the while she had been talking, Sunny was also packing her stuff. She wanted to take only the necessities and would be deciding about the other stuff later.
"After gaining consciousness I was so glad to see a known face that too who showed so much sympathy that I immediately told him everything. The attack on me had scared me a lot. We that is, I and Maan came to the conclusion that the attackers thought David would have told me everything and I would be having the proofs which David had collected. So they wanted to remove the ultimate threat to them. They would have attempted another attack and every time I would not have been so lucky to be saved but moreover I was more scared for the child I was carrying than for myself. The child was the only thing of David that held so much importance for me. So we decided to leave the country."
"But it was Maan's idea to disguise myself as his companion so that the attackers won't find me so easily. He told me not to let anyone know about this disguise."
"But once you came to India you could have easily told the truth" Geet told her.
"No Geet, Maan had requested me not to divulge this information to anyone and that included people here in India as well."
"But why?" Geet was not convinced.
"Geet, its time for my fight to London. The reason for that you will have to ask Maan himself. Thank you Geet for everything you have done for me. You have to come to London once the baby is born as you will be it's Godmother Geet. You will come na?" saying this Sonalika hugged Geet and left saying she had to take blessing from Dadi also.
