Kastur is 9th pass. Four years ago, she would've been 15--which seems a bit older than the average student in the ninth standard, no?

Either way, it's just weird. 9th pass. Not 10th pass. 9th pass.

And ummesulaiman, agreed. I would say shove it as well. I think there has to be some other reason. Because if Baapji's demand is what the excuse will be, whatever chauvinistic, suffocating, household Kastur is stuck with, the Desais can't complain. They knew very well what they were getting into. (I would say the same thing right now with Kastur's now non-existent mobile phone .)

Well i am sorry but desais have to know what they send their daughter into, if they don't then i have nothing to say. Jitu has known bhanu for years and in one episode after the jewelery shop incident baa said i know how saroj is like ... so they pretty much knew how Galas are like and where they are sending their daughter into. But i think the fact that kastur loved mohan so much made them take the decision. I am not saying she left her education because of baapji but the thing that Desais did not know what they are sending their daughter into, i can't agree with. May be even before baapji brought rishta, kastur was in love with mohan and when jitu asked her, as he had said it would be her decision, seeing her excitement they did not think about anything else.

Frankly, Kastur's 9th pass status matters only to Saroj...Kastur has redeemed herself with her maturity & intellect and would put many of her educated peers to shame...if the reality of why she left her education is revealed, it better be in an absolutely credible context...otherwise, who cares?

I agree the Desais knew what they were sending their daughter into. That's what I can't wrap my head around. I can believe that they may not have known the exact position of the women in the house. If that were the case, Saroj wouldn't yield so much power in her Association. The other women would make sure to not let her rule over them, throwing her own position in the house in her face, and they would all gang up and garner strength to speak out against her, block her, etc.

Baapji once lost his temper in front of the pundit and then remembered the priest was there. He controlled himself till the priest left, and then went on about with his anti-women tirade. (Not to even get started about the pundit, who heard Baapji's first words and just sat there.) So I can believe much of the stuff were not revealed to visitors.

But like I said, that mobile phone thing. There's no way around that. They knew what Kastur was going into, and Kastur knew what she was going into, is all I can say.
