Part 164: the nature/rain and the magic of closeness

Time was passing by and the time brought its happiness along with its little child sickness, and everything went its best way. Surender and Suchi spend their weekends with the little ones around, Suchi loved the roaming around with Ruhi especially stealing those guavas, and playing under the water falls, and catching fishes in their hands whereas Surender enjoyed spending time with Hriday in horse yard. Those private moments were the precious ones for them to share for the rest of the lonely times. But they never felt any missing as the time they spend were just for the grand kids without any interruption, and the chandenpur time gave them good break from their heactic work times.

The sky above the chandenur was clouded that evening. Dev parking his jeep , went in.

"Radhikaaa"

"She is not here, I am also worried, I think it is going to rain soon': sushma came out holding Hriday in her arms

"where did she go?' Dev asked in concern

Sushma: Chanda kaki asked for some help, and she went with her

Dev looked outside and found the tiny drops.

Sushma: Dev, go and get her beta, I think it is getting dark, and she went by walking , also looks like the rain is going to be strong soon too.

Dev: ji buva

He walked out

"papa, am coming too" Ruhi came running holding her doll in her hand

"no beta, be here, it is raining outside, you may get sick" Dev tried to stop her

"papa please"

Sushma: ruhi beta, stay here, papa will be back soon

Dev: ok beta

"um" ruhi agreed in a hesitant tone

Dev walked out and the rain was getting strong too.

Igniting the engine he drove out thru the road, thru the muddy path. The thick dark clouds dim the light out, and the wind and the thunder, forced Dev to drive faster. He stopped for some time for the sheep crowd to move on. He looked at the watch, drove little further in, and seeing the narrow path in front , he stopped, and thought: now what to do? He looked back and found the umbrella. Picking that up, he came out and walked thru the narrow path betwen the woods to chanda kaki's house.

"she left already Dev babu, seeing the clouds' kaki replied

Dev stood in confusion and looked at her

"ha beta, maybe half an hour prior, I told her to wait but she said she can manage, so taking the short cut"

'its ok kaki, maybe she is back home, " saying that Dev left . The heavy pouring of the nature, wet his shoulder, down to his leg and he held onto that handle strong to keep it safe above his head from the strong wind. "but I didn't see Radhika on my way, where is she? "

He doubted as he walked down to the parked jeep

"DEV, dev.."

He didn't listen as he was engaged in his thought, and was walking , looking down the ground.

Dev jerked suddenly with a drawing of a silver line at the horizon, and the spark from that line, followed by the sound, feeling the hold on his upper arm. He looked sideways with his shocked eyes

"Radhika moved onto him more closer to escape up from the rain drops'

"Radhika , thum!!!"

Radhika trying to hold on that umbrella handle and getting more closer to save her head from getting wet: ha, how many times I called you, and you didn't even listen

Dev wrapped his arms around her shoulder to get her more in : you did call me? Where were you? Kaki said you left early

"ha but it started pouring , I thought it may get done soon, but then it started pouring heavily, and I was unable to walk down, so was standing under that tree."

"you didn't see me walking by" Dev asked

"no, I just saw you."

She moved closer to him with the feeling of cold drops

'Radhika you got all wet'

"ha, because you didn't listen to me, and I didn't have any other choice, where is the jeep?'

'right there, come let's walk quick, I don't think this will end soon"

Radhika wrapped her both arms around him from the front and back with closing the loop, and walked along with his force, but still the wind brought the drops in to make her feel cold.

Feeling her coldness, Dev; Radhika, you wet me too

"you are already wet' she replied with her shivering lips

Dev opened the door and radhika slide in, and squeezed herself to feel better.

Keeping the umbrella behind , Dev came ot the front and tried to ignite the engine, it stopped with a slight roar sound.

Radhika tried to wipe of the rolling drops fro her wet arms, and tried to stroke back on her hair

Dev again tried for another strong roar, and failed

Radhika looked at him: kya huva?

Dev turning to start the engine: don't know, maybe this rain

Radhika noticed his wet hair : you are all wet

Dev:; all because of you

Radhika gave a smile, and then she took her pallu and tried to squeeze out the dripping water , and getting it little dry, she tried to dry his hair

"ye, what are you doing?' jerking Dev asked

""trying to dry your hair, you only told that you got wet because of me, right' stopping her action, Radhika said

"No Radhika, I am fine, why this engine is not starting"

Radhika smiled and again tried to dry his hair saying: no , I don't want you to get sick

He noticed her shivering sound

Dev paused and looked at her, and found Radhika totally immersed in drying his hair, she was sitting closer to him , and the rain drops made her skin to shine with more fairness. He skipped a beat and looked back at the steering..

"Ye sit properly, let me dry your hair" Radhika forced him to turn to reach his hair completely

"enough Radhika, I am fine" Dev forced himself not to look at her

"ek minute, I am done" saying that he forced her hands over his hair and after making few more shakes of that hair, she took her hands off.

"there you go, now it 's all dry' with a smile she lowered her arms looking at his face with a smile

Her heart skipped a beat seeing his passionate eyes on her , suddenly the smile disappered and she changed her gaze away and tried to move her body slowly. She could hear her fluttery heart and she paused for a second, and she could easily imagine his lingering eyes over her.

Dev was looking at her blushing cheek, along with her gulping and , flickering lashes.

His eyes followed the trail of that drops from her hair down to her neck skin, and then hiding into her wet cloths.

His throat mumbled: Radhika"

"Radhika sat with same pause, holding the pallu in her hand

Leaving his hand from the key, it raised up to hold her back of the neck

Not that far away the lightening again left a line of silver line and faded without making any sound. and Radhika felt it passing thru her spine down to her feet

"we need to go" Radhika reminded him staring down to her lap

"um" he relied,

But his force on her neck, made her to startle, and she forced her voice: we need to go

Dev keeping his silence , looked at her side profile, and found her shivering lips.

"are you feeling cold?' he questioned

She didn't say anything

'you are wet too"

She didn't say anything

"more than me"

Radhika tried to look back at his face, and tried to move her throat: that's ok

"muhum, I can see you shivering'

Radhika saw the goose bumps making her skin hair to stay alert, and she tried to control her speeding heart beat

"chodiyena, we need to go" She reminded again

Dev : first you wipe yourself

Radhika; no I am fine

"are you sure?"

"um' Radhika replied looking into his eyes

Leaving her neck, he tried to ignite the engine again and failed, he tried few more times

He looked out, it was almost dark out and the space was looking all empty

He looked at Radhika; its not turning on

"try again" she pleaded

He did for another few failed attempts

Let me check, he went to check on it, while radhika tried to wipe of her skin with the pallu, looking at Dev's face which was getting more wet. Radhika looked behind and took the umbrella and came out. Dev looked up as he found the shade over his wetting head.

"you are getting wet again'

Dev smiled and then: I don't think Radhika whether i can fix this, let the rain get settled , then I will try again

Radhika just nodded her head, as he wrapped his arms around her shoulder to get more inside the umbrella.

He felt her shivering body

"Radhika , you are shivering, you may get sick"

"its ok, let's go inside

"can you dry yourself inside"

'No, I am fine., I wiped my arms off"

Dev , where were you standing earlier

"over there, under that big tree"

Dev taking the umbrella handle from her hand, made her to walk: come , then let's wait there"

"but"

Dev" its ok, come"

Radhika walked along with him, she moved closer as the wind circled along bringing the drops onto her cold shivering body.

"where were you standing?"

Radhika pointed her finger towards inside, little away from the main path

Dev moved towards there

As they reached near it, He paused and looked up, and found the space better to spend till the rain gets settled

They moved near to the trunk

Radhika: actually there is a big hole here, we can stay there

Dev looked at the base of the trunk, and found its larger roots, making small small cave spaces, and he walked in to one of those spacious space along with Radhika

'much better" He said looking at the strong down pour little far

"Buva may be getting worried"

Dev: no , she only send me to bring you, so she knows

Radhika: try calling home and tell her

Dev tried to take his cell: oh Radhika I left that at home only, its ok, she knows

Radhika shivered as the cold wind circled around

Dev looked at her, and found her squeezing more into hers folding her arms around her chest. She was all wet, and the saree was sticking to her body.

Dev moved more closer and gave the umbrella in her hand

Radhika looked at him in confusion

" hold this, you are shivering'

'Its ok" she said holding the umbrella

"its not ok" saying that he tried to take her pallu

Radhika looked at him with her raised heart beat

"let me help you" he said that and tried to squeeze her pallu

But the pin at the shoulder did not give him the freedom. He looked at her, and then leaving the pallu he moved his hand up to take the pin off

"its ok'

Radhika tried to calm herself

Dev getting closer, looking at her face with his corner eyes, tried to open the pin. Radhika held that umbrella handle closer as he was getting more closer,

"koi ayega" her shivering lips mumbled

"hamare beech kisiki bhi ane ki anumathi nahi hei" he said passionately

She moved her neck to the side as she was unable to take his warming breath near her ears that was giving the tickling sensation.

Nearing his lips near her ears: kya huva?

"muhum" she nodded her head

With a smile, Dev opened the pin and held the loosened pallu in his hand. He held her wet upper arm, as he moved the pallu away.. radhika felt her lungs suffocating under to take a deep breath, but the space between them was too narrow that she tried to control her feelings. Soon it gave away on her as he moved back slightly loosening his grip on her upper arm.

Dev looked at her posture as he squeezed her pallu in his hands, and then again coming closer, he tried to dry her hair. The wet soft material covered her face like a curtain, as he stroked over her head , soon he moved it away to dry it again. Her chest raised along with the coldness around. Slowly he wiped off her face, down to her cheek, to her neck. Radhika closed her eyes unable to see him so closer. Wiping off the wetness, he loosened his grip on that pallu, and held the umbrella handle, and radhika loosened her hold, and he took that away from her.

"the shade of this tree can keep us dry" he said the reason in a secret soft voice

She gulped as she heard it, holding her shoulder, he made her to turn

He moved her hair to the front and tried to dry her back. Feeling his breath near her neck space, Radhika feeling the lightness on her body, closed the space between them, and leaned her back to his frontal body.

The pallu end just fell onto the ground as his hand slide over her wet skin over her abdomen.

Taking her under his shoulder, he closed his eyes, asnd she rested her head back on his shoulder

Time ticked by

The thunder st the horizon broght her back to reality

"aisa kyum ho reha hei?" she asked softly looking at the horizon

'so that I can give you the warmth" he mumbled as his lips pressed over her neck skin

"but I am still feeling the coldness" she said with her shivering lips

Dev with a smile, loosening his hands over her, tuned her around and looking at her face, just took her into his embrace, Radhika wrapped her arms around him , and held him closer

"ab' he asked softly

Radhika tightened her arms around him, and stood in his warmth

Time ticked by and soon or later the rain drops made its dripping sound closer to wake them up from their sleep..

"ab hamei chalna chahiye" she mumbled

"um"

Opening his eyes, he looked out, and then looked for the umbrella , and found its been taken away by the wind

Radhika wrapped the pallu around her shoulder, and looked at him

Dev coming near, held her closer: let's go quick

Holding her , he walked faster towards the jeep

Rahdika sat inside, while Dev checked back again the bonnet. He came back and tried to restart the engine again. The roar sound stopped with the turn

Dev tried again and again, and finally it was able to keep its sound well to give a green signal

He smiled at her, and she smiled back

"chale"

"um" she nodded

They reached home. Found everyone sitting at the varanda, with Ruhi playing around

"I was so worried and tried to call you guys, then found your phone here, what happened?" Sushma asked in concern

Dev tried to explain the situation while Radhika went inside quick.

Dev's eyes fell on her speediness

"go and change, see , you all wet, or you will get sick"

Dev walking away: no buva, now I got used to this wetness and cold, nothing will happen

"I know , but now go and change" Sushma's voice followed him

"ha buva, few mnutes" saying that he looked back to see his little one sleeping in her lap and Ruhi playing with the dripping water drops from the roof top.

Dev went in his room, and closed the door flap tight. and looked around.

Found Radhika getting into the wash room holding the dry cloth in her hands

With a naughty smile, he slide in with a force as the washroom door was closing behind, and her eyes gone wide in shock

Keeping the same naughty smile he closed the door and put the latch on, standing with resting his back on to that door."you still feeling cold"
