SRK & Priyanka to host Zee Cinema Awards 2012

Of late, actors Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra have increasingly been spotted at several events together. The two stars, who will soon be seen in Don 2,have lately become very close if buzz is to be believed. Now, the duo are ready to take their friendship a notch higher. Before your imagination starts running away with you, read on. DNA has learned that the two stars will be hosting the forthcoming edition of the Zee Cine Awards 2012, together. The award function is slated to be held in Macau early next year.

Says an insider, "The 2011 edition was hosted by actor Akshay Kumar along with filmmaker Sajid Khan. However, this year, a couple who share a great rapport and look glamorous together is what was being looked at. The names that were in the running to host the show apparently included Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif-Hrithik Roshan, Anushka Sharma-Ranveer Singh and of course, SRK-Priyanka Chopra. However considering that SRK and Priyanka not only have done films together, but also appear to share the comfort level needed was a deciding factor."

The insider further explains the reason for their selection: "Priyanka has never hosted an awards evening before, so a spontaneous person like SRK might just be the best to co-host with her. Last year, PC was loved by everyone for her 'Chulbul Pandey' performance and Shah Rukh for his witty one-liners and mimicry, which had audiences in splits."

ZEEL CEO & MD, Punit Goenka confirmed the development at the recently held L'il Champs Finale in Surat, where SRK was the chief guest. "We have a long association with Shah Rukh and we're happy to have him host the Zee Cine Awards 2012," he said.

Mohan Gopinath, Business Head, Zee Cinema, also added that they were delighted to announce that Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra will host ZCA 2012. "And, Priyanka will make her TV debut as a host," he confirmed.
