Q)Tell Us about ur journey through TV ...
A)His first shot was on alok nath for imtihaan TV show which was directed by ravi rai ... & it used 2 come on DD metro or DD2 ... in 1995 ... he was an assistant i guess Asst. director ... then he got a role ... in the same show ...
(my view on that show not a part of the interview but what i know about imtihaan = i used 2 watch that show imthihaan ... then ...it was a gud show ... i loved renuka's character ... he played the BF of firdaus dadi ... who was renuka shahani's sister ... these 2 were alok nath's daughters ... how thy fight for their father who gets cheated by his friend ... sandeep was a cancer patient ...his name was also sandeep in that show & he dies ... in the show ...)
in 1995 ... ravi rai went 2 shoot the movie for Ztv & vishesh films under mahesh bhatt colloboration ... so he had to direct the show imtihaan ... he said he directed all the great actors of that time from that show ... (like rita bhadhuri ... anang desai ... alok nath ... renuka shahane ... sachin khedekar ... raju kher ... etc etc ...)
he understood acting alone will not help him 2 survive ... he needs 2 earn his bread & butter ... & also he needs to improve his acting skills ... & he wanted a circle ... he found the circle ... his friend helped him then ... he made him meet ravi rai ... he worked with ... ravi rai in 2 movies which were sheleved ..anjane & dill gaya chori chori .. after that ... he worked with anupam kher ... for the show imthihaan ... his role was quite long ... in ravi's absence he directed tht show ...
in 1999 ... he had 2 apply whitner ... so he thought ... he can act any time ... so he took a break from acting ... wanted 2 do something which was close to his heart ... reason was when AB can still act at this age & get roles of a lead after his come back ... so can't i get a character role atleast ... so he thought of no to acting tht time ... went into different field ...
in 2000 ... then in ztv ... he wrote for rishtey as they were single episodes ... he wrote the first episode for rishtey ... which was directed by ravi rai his guru ... that was his biggest gift ...
then he wanted 2 open PH ... but was not successful ...even till now ... he is struggling 2 open a PH ...
he started acting ... he got role in a diff shows ...where there was no necessary for him 2 apply any whitner ... he was talking abt hello inspection (not sure if i heard it right )... with ravi kishen & he as main lead ...
then ... in anurag basu's meet on ZTV ... show he played ... a role of bro ... his role was similar to that of his personality ...
his another show jane kya baath hui ... he did not like it that much ... as there was not much scope for him ...
he did not want 2 work in daily soap any more ... he wanted 2 direct & work in movies ...
he then worked in life in metro & gangstar ... as an assistant to anurag basu ...
anurag then gave him chance to work in his next show ...on sab TV ...
he started directing independtly ... even acted in that show ... love story which was given by anurag basu ... he liked directing as well as acting in that show ... his co star was rupa ganguly & harsh chaya ... was a triangle ... he liked it a lot ... it was small & he is thankful to anurag basu & he did his job very well ...
Q)what do u find more satisfying direction or acting ...
A)both were satisfying ... acting was what i came for ... wanted 2 make a name for myself in industry ... there was no much necessity for me to struggle for bread & butter ... that was what i came into the industry with that aim ... need a name ... that was what happened & i got popularity with imthihaan ... people recognise me with the character of imthihaan ... he is happy that he got recognition what he wnated ...
direction there is too much chanllenge ... acting is personal challenge ... if u have any problem u can work it out with the director ...
direction is a big challenge ... need coordination with every one ... so many characters actors ... technicians ... he loves correcting everything & everyone as per what is happening with everyone ... he loves direction & find it more challenging ...
daily soap is a biggest chanllenge ... out of 12 hours ... he gets 8 hours to finish his job ... need 2 give the product in that time ...need 2 give the footage & give quality work 2 the channel & work as per artist schedules ... there are so many challenges ...

Imp Q)how has it been directing for geet ...
A)I was never on FB before ... used to listen from people that fans commented like this ... like that ... i understood that fans watch everything so minutely ... fans revert back on all these things ...
recently he understood that there is so much craze & fan following for GHSP & happy that GHSP is quite popular ... people actually are madly in love with GHSP ... after checking ...
co stars it depends on how their mood is ... actors mood & health depends on the episode ... some times actors get sick ... so they have 2 shoot as per their schedules ... even if they come for a short period of time ... we have to shoot during that time period ...
show is nice ... the initial concept or drama what was there in the beginning is not there any more ... there is now more romance & comedy in the show ... the beginning concept was missing ...
he got some messages from some fans as to how the show was & what the show is now ...the original cv's are not there any more ... & the channel team has also changed ... so no one has those points ... not even the PH ...
my view -- this is so sad😠... no one has clue about what the original concept was ... thank god for the fans who messaged him ... now we are getting the gud old days back coz of teh feed back ...
SS int continues -- how he understood that these are the actual real followers ... understood that fans have some expectations ...
& understands that all these points count ... he thinks that these points should b there & to be taken care of & can be shown in the episode ...
feels happy after reading all these comments ... about the popularity ... & feed back ...
Q)how does fans input help u as a direct...
A)helps 100 % ... works on the input how much he can enhance his work ... if he needs to work more on it or not ... need 2 cut down or not ...
he is now looking at the comments ... he is working on this as per the comments he receive ... he is saying if he can work on the show as per the comments he is receiving ...
1 request ... my view =so girls please give comments that are gud for the show ... ask what is gud for maaneet or gurti ...
Q)what type of shows does he like 2 direct ...
A)he loves romance a lot ... light hearted comedy ... drama also is gud ... but reality needs 2 b tehre ...
Q)Do u get time 2 watch ur own work ...
A)thanks to satelite channels there are repeats now ... when he started his career with DD there was no repeat telecast ... that time VHS was there ... now u have UT ... 2 watch ... so we have plenty of options ... as we shoot till 9:30 ... so he watches the repeat telecast of GHSP which comes at 11 P.M.
Q)what has been ur best piece of work in acting & directing ...
A)in both they are there ...
like in my 1st show imthihaan ... as a beginner ... what ever i could do i did ... there were so many veterans in the industry in that show then ... i learnt a lot & used 2 enjoy a lot while working with them ...

in colors jaane kya baath hui it was a cameo ...
i enjoyed a lot ... these characters ...
as a director ...
love story was par ... worked with full liberty ... actors were gud ... even new comers & all were devoted ... thy were gud ... harsh & rupa ji was also great ... we had full liberty to do what we wanted to do ... loved creating ... no interference from channel ... it was a great & anurag basu said u can do what ever u can as per the given circumstances ... & it was great & satisfying ...
MJHT was great ... worked in the end ... it was funzone in the last episodes ... enjoyed a lot ...
similarly like in GHSP also ... every scene is challenging ... actors are co-opeartive ... having fun ... enjoying a lot ...
Q)what do u do when not shooting ...
A)as rainy season ended ... we play cricket ... saturday & sunday with chandrakant pandit sir on the grounds ... parents come .. their team is 40 + ...thy play matches ...play outside ... around bombay ... he loves bike riding ... during june time he took break form GHSP & went on bike riding after 17th june ... so shooted till 15th june ... he took break from geet after 16th ... he takes breaks when he wants a vacation ... not when he is free ...if something is decided then he leaves work & goes on that ...
