Shehzad Roy

Shehzad Roy is one of the very famous Pop singers hailing from Karachi, Pakistan. He became a huge hit when he debuted in 1995 with a boisterous and revolutionary approach to Pakistani Pop.In the late 1990s,he became one of the most popular singers in South Asia.

Shehzad has been dedicated to the building up of Zindagi Trust, the NGO which springs from his passion for helping impoverished and uneducated children.Roy once said; "I feel so sad when I see some child working, or on the streets, not going to school. The Trust is my best effort to do something about that."

The programme has 25 schools across the country and uses unique teaching methods along with incentives to entice children to attend. If children pass daily assessments, they are rewarded Rs20. "Some people say its wrong to bribe children to be in school," says Shehzad, "but well-off kids are rewarded for their marks all the time. There is no reason poor children should not have the same support."

Shehzad uses the proceeds from his concerts to support Zindagi Trust, but has been spending his time making the organization more self-sufficient. For his efforts, Shehzad was awarded the prestigious "Tamgha-i-Imtiaz", the youngest person and only pop singer to ever be honoured by this prestigious Presidential recognition of efforts to help the impoverished of Pakistani society. Shehzad's work is found to be commendable by all, even the Pakistani Prime Minister.

Shehzad's newest album "Buri Baat Hai" released in 2005 is still fresh and new, with plenty of tracks to please a range of rhythmical and lyrical tastes. And, for those seeking an even broader stroke, The Best of Shehzad Roy offers a sampling of his classics, along with an interview and moving documentary about Zindagi Trust.

With his boyish good looks that make female fans swoon, clever songs and a moving commitment to a cause, Shehzad Roy is one of the most exciting people on Pakistan's entertainment scene.

Shehzad Roy >> Update !

Shehzad Roy fans can stop their 3 year long waiting period. The new album "Rab Jaanay" is out and is experiencing a mix reaction. This new album has some different numbers and a couple of instrumentals. Rab Jaanay seems to be a nice number. Apart from this 'Teray Nal' and 'Teray Dil Main' have a synonymous sound to it. Jan Gayo and Roshni Ka Yaqeen (played in a Tele performance as well) are both instrumentals.

Some other songs may include Bhool Ja, Tirchi Nazar, Mukhra, Aas Paas, Jinna Karlo Gai Pyar. All in all this album has a romantic theme with songs of normal standing. What he requires is, some variation in his voice devoid of fabrications.

Shehzad Roy announcing Bryan Adams will hold a concert in Karachi on Jan 29

Yes it's true, Bryan is coming to town!
By Khurrum Anis

KARACHI: The multi-platinum artist Bryan Adams will tour Pakistan for three days during which he will perform at the Arabian Sea Golf Country Club on January 29 to help raise funds for Shehzad Roy's charity Zindagi Trust.

This was announced at a press conference on Wednesday. Roy, who has made more of a name for himself off stage for his charity work, will be performing alongside Adams. Tickets will be sold for a minimum of Rs 2,500 and Roy said that the maximum price has yet to be decided.

Roy said he expected a turnover of Rs 15 million from the one-night concert, all of which will be donated to his organisation's cause. When pressed to say exactly how much Adams was charging for the concert, Roy simply said the Canadian singer had lowered his regular amount quite a bit.

Adams' manager Richard Corum flew in from Dubai for the press conference. Coram said that the event was made possible after an acquaintance of Roy's saw Adams taking fashion photos for a magazine. It was then that the woman approached Adams and made him an offer, to play for the charity. As a social worker and a philanthropist of sorts, Adams accepted the offer. The woman, whose name was not disclosed, then contacted Roy.

Coram said Adams has always been excited about playing overseas and was particularly moved by his experience in Vietnam. Roy said that the maximum security would be arranged to deter gatecrashers. People would soon see advertising boards displaying where the tickets will be sold.
