If you want to talk about a particular topic or character... atleast don't talk in such a way that it doesn't hurt the feelings of the fans...

Love is not something to be ashamed or guilty about... You don't choose to fall in love with a person, it just happens... you fall in love without meaning too... so I don't think Damon should be guilty about loving Elena, and yes Stefan did sacrifice his freedom for Damon but then Damon is also trying his best to save Stefan isn't he...

And if you're talking about being in love with his brother's girlfriend then Elena is not his (Stefan's) girlfriend anymore... Stefan made a clean break with her. Its Elena who is choosing to hang onto previous memories, but apart from that they don't have a 'per se relationship' anymore.

Damon has a very different way of showing love towards Stefan and Elena... while his love for Elena is imminent even a blind person can see it... his love for Stefan is more subtle and hidden, he does not keep his heart on his sleeve for Stefan even though he does love him a lot.

He released Stefan from the cell where Elena was keeping him hostage without the fear of facing Elena's anger... he thought what was best for Stefan in the circumstances and did it!!...

You do not understand Damon's character at all. I did not find anything bad at all with the scene. He is not expressive about his love to people, so everyone things he does not care or love.
