Rani is a very good actress but she is too beautiful to play a dark middle-class girl. Rani is like a girl next door. But Saloni is not. Saloni is pretty but in her own way.

LARA cannot ACT and she looks very OLD and neither can she dance.

Sushmita is wayyyy moree classy for Saloni's role. and sushmita is not dark.
Bipasha is wayy hot for Saloni's role.

Konkona is a very good actress but she is not that dark.

Nandita Sen should do justice to Saloni
but i think Rajshree is the best choice any day.

i would think konkona might suit this role, or even kajol. i don't think the point is to show saloni as ugly, the whole point is to show that people in her society are not open minded enough to call someone dark-skinned, beautiful. she is supposed to be beautiful, but not to them. so i think kajol would be my first choice, and then konkona.

actually i think saloni looks a lot like an old actress named nutan. However, nutan was fair. Saloni has very similar features.

i dont think any of those, maybe that chic from tere naam - ummm bhumika chawla will perform the role well, though not match the required looks. All those actors named are very different from the role that needs to be portrayed. though they are actresses, and the point is to act, ...
