Reason for UTV dropping Dhanush's Mareesan

UTV Motion Pictures have moved out the Dhanush film titled Mareesan to be directed by Chimbu Devan. It was said that the film was dropped due to budget issues. With UTV all set to begin the Mysskin directed Mugamoodi, which is a super hero subject; the budget was expected to skyrocket. Following this, the production house decided to drop Mareesan which is a period flick that requires a huge budget.

But now, sources say that Mareesan is a direct lift from a foreign film and therefore UTV is not keen on producing the film.
