Your title to the post is splendid! Both the Raizada Brothers showed the caring side of their nature and both the Gupta sisters showed their dignity and self-respect in their own unique manner! Khushi in her characterstic outspoken manner and Payal in her quiet but final tones!
Yesterday's episodes worked for me in a lot of ways. First we got to see the caring side of Arnav and then we got to see the concerned side of Akash. Not only was Arnav caring, he was calm too! More importantly, he understood Khushi today...he understood why she was upset and worked up and did not react to her outburst! It was a wonderful scene...I thought Sanaya was just amazing, in the way she went from suprise to annoyance, from annoyance to acceptance, from anger to guilt...the girl truly is a scene stealer. And Barun...given that the poor man has on an average 3-4 lines to say in every episode and has to convey the rest of his character through his eyes...he does a marvellous job of it! I particularly liked the expression of suppressed anger that he holds when Khushi shouts on him! Even in scenes, where he has to convey the 'soft' side of his character, he never lets go of the simmering rage and intensity that so epitomizes ASR!Akash Bitwa is turning from a boy to a man! And it is nice, to say the least!👏The sister duo was great too. Khushi clearly expressed her stand on taking favors and Payal, for the first time had a proper conversation with Akash. We got to see a lot of character development in just one episode.
Khushi is a refreshing creature...she is self-respecting without being self-righteous, she is dignified without being holier than thou about it, she is straight-forward and crisp without being overtly rude or offensive. And she has the most unique trait that most other female characters (in other shows) do not have...making a mistake and then accepting and apologizing for it! And then moving on with her life, without spending sleepless nights over it! Khushi is very real! Without doubt, the most likeable character in the show!Though I find it difficult to bear with Payal's constant whimpering, her conversation with Akash was done very nicely! She was pragmatic, practical and dismissed him beautifully without in the least being impolite or rude!Arnav ' I am amazed to see the transformation of Arnav's character. It is as subtle as Barun's acting. He has come a long way from being rude, judgmental and inconsiderate to being polite, understanding and caring towards Khushi. Yes he has developed feelings for Khushi but yesterday's hospital scene was nothing about that. It showed the humane side of Arnav and the fact that he cleared the bills was not out of any guilt or pity but a genuine effort to help another human being. He truly understood Khushi's situation, felt her pain, helped in a time of need and consoled her. The way he put his hand on her head was his nicest gesture towards her till date. It was also apt for the situation. He couldn't possibly hug her to console her. It would be too much too soon. Khushi hugged him an entirely different situation.Arnav's character has been given the maximum attention by the creatives...he hardly does anything that is out of character. All the three scenes that he had with Khushi were brilliantly executed...the first one showed his humane side (when he pays the hospital bills), the second one showed his protective side (when he keeps his hand over her head) and the third one showed his growing attraction to her! (when he cannot stop himself from turning and looking at her retreating figure) As you mentioned, his character growth has been tremendous and one that has been kept completely in sync with the story.
Khushi ' It was great to see that she didn't want any favors from Arnav. It would be against her character. It actually helped Arnav see how strong and dignified she really is. Her surprise as to why Arnav was helping her since she's just an employee was reasonable. Later when she realized she misunderstood his intentions and was probably to harsh with him, she regretted immediately. She was going through a whirlwind of emotions so she ultimately broke down and shared her innermost fears to someone who once suffered a similar loss and understood her fear and pain. What I found very cute and unintentionally hilarious about the scene was that Khushi mixed up the hugging with his helping and brought both the issues together, much to Arnav's embarassement, who clearly doesn't want to be reminded of what happened...but for a completely different reason. Because he wanted to hug her, and he couldn't! She is embarassed because she did not want to do anysuch thing, but she did! Once again, the contrast in their characters came out! Her outburst was very emotional...her pride was hurt, she was confused by his action, she was annoyed by his gesture and then she instantly regretted her harsh words when she all of a sudden realized that his intention was absolutely honorable and genuine...all so natural, given her circumstances!Akash ' Akash is always shown as sensitive and sensible character. In fact After Arnav and Khushi, he is my favorite character in the show. He might have seemed like a mamma's boy but he has proved that being polite and respecting towards his mother does not mean he supports injustice. The fact the he apologized to Payal again showed what a gem he is. His phone call at the Gupta house was not an excuse to call Payal. He was genuinely concerned about his health and it was clearly visible.I hope his character is given more spine and he takes a stand on his own life! His phone conversation with Payal was nicely done!
Payal ' Payal character took a 360 degree turn from being a cry baby. She may be soft spoken and homely but she has self respect and can put across her feelings without being impolite. I liked the fact that she made it clear that she preferred not to speak to him but it was not out anger. It was rather out of self esteem.I liked her pragmatism when she told him that it is good for everyone if they don't continue the conversations anymore! (Except the 'Aap Amir aur Hum Garib line...that was so cliched and hindi filmy!) She knows that he is attracted to her and for a change, she doesn't duck the problem, rather faces it head on, telling him to stop where he is and not embroil himself and her in what will surely be a messy future situation!
Turn offs: 🤢 👎🏼
The only thing that does not work for me is Shyam. He is a pervert and a psychopath without a purpose. I feel really disturbed watching him torture a paralyzed man. Can someone please explain why he wants to marry Khushi?
If anyone has an answer to this, please share it with me too! Shyam's character is vague to the extreme and his psychopathic actions have very little reasonable explanation! (Or any explanation for that matter! And I am not talking about his obessesion for Khushi...that can still be understood; what I cannot understand is his obessesion for marriage to her!)If he wants to sleep with her there are plenty of other ways.Buaji's obsession with Shyam is beyond my understanding. I once liked her character but now she completely annoys me. She seemed like a smart lady at the beginning but now I seriously wonder how she made it on her own in Dehli before Payal and Khushi came to live with her.
The entire Buaji - Shyam - Khushi marriage thing has very little meat! This plot has not been well charted out! How can Buaji keep insisting on Khushi's wedding when Payal is still unmarried? They are traditional people...how can they think of getting the younger daughter married when the older one is still unmarried? And where are Garima's brains? Left back in Lucknow?Turn ons: 👍🏼Barun, Barun and Barun. 😍 😍 😍 ❤️
His eyes are the color of melting chocolate...and he is just too distractingly good-looking!Akshay in that red shirt. He has to continue wearing the red shirt if he doesn't want to be constantly overshadowed by a man whose eyes spell disaster!😆
