| Quote unquote: Ajay Devgan |
Reports came back from the Cannes film festival that Ajay Devgan had made a big boo-boo when he compared William Shakespeare and Vishal Bharadwaj.
A source said bitchily, "Ajay said Vishal's film on Othello was better than Shakespeare's novel on Othello at the press conference of Omkara. Isn't that ridiculous? Doesn't Ajay know that Shakespeare wrote a play and not a novel and secondly, there are no comparisons?" Yeah, we agree.
So we decided to pull up Devgan for that lack of knowledge, but got a surprise when he snapped back, "What rubbish! I never said anything of the sort. Of course, I know that Othello is a Shakespearean play! What I said was that when you convert a play or book it loses its impact, but Vishal has done a brilliant job in adapting.
It would be unfair to compare Shakespeare and Vishal as both belong to totally different genres. There can never be any comparison between them." We agree.
