Same here, I'd have loved to see him as a grey character. It'd been pretty interesting if he did things out of obsession (not as grave as killing though) and then regretted. I'd have loved to see him try to redeem himself and then again doing something harmful. That would've been quite an interesting story. But they've turned him into a cold blooded murdered who doesn't think twice before attempting to murder the girl's father whom he claims to love.
