The Oscars give out separate awards for 'adapted and original screenplays'. Of, course, in Bollywood, the latter will be completely futile.

Most releases of the recent past like Force, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, Soundtrack, Bodyguard, etc have been adaptations of blockbusters either from the west, or down south. It's been long since Bollywood has witnessed a fresh story which has a stunning concept. New screenwriters are struggling to sell concepts, as big league filmmakers are hell-bent on adapting successful formula films and Bollywoodizing it.

Is this trend acceptable in the industry that produces the largest number of films in the world? Is it fair to the originators of the regional flicks? Is Bollywood finding a success mantra in formula films? Will this affect Bollywood's image and credibility in the movie business around the world? Bollywood Big Story, strongly debates over the death of originality in the Hindi film industry, with comments and views of some of the best of the industry.

Tune in to Bollywood Big Story this Saturday, 15th October, at 12:30 pm and Sunday, 16th October at 8pm only on zoOm - India's No.1 Bollywood channel.

Shah Rukh Khan, Actor

If we don't start upgrading our technology and style of filmmaking, the next generation will stop watching Bollywood films.

Jacqueline Fernandez, Actor

Murder 2 worked as a film only because there was so much curiosity around the sequel, after the successful first part.

Farhan Akhtar, Filmmaker

A good sequel can be made only when there's curiosity around the story. A filmmaker shouldn't take the audience for granted.

Genelia D'Souza, Actor

I think the only difference between Bollywood and the south is that the south industry is more open to new talent and fresher concepts.

Ashutosh Gowariker, Filmmaker

If the story has the potential and the audience loves it, then there's no harm in making sequels. It's a good economical move.
