She looked down in his eyes, paused for a moment and'.
"Yes, I believe I will" she gently replied.
Part 13
"Geet why are you still in the same dress? You should have been ready for pooja by now."
"Yes, Dadima I will go and get ready but before that I have something very important to do."
Saying this she bend down to touches Savitri Devi's feet. "Dadima, can I call you Ma? You mean more to me than any other person on this world. You have been my support, my pillar of strength, a friend and a confidant. You have given me hope and have guided me in the right direction on the road I have taken, but more importantly you have helped me appreciate the precious gift of life which I had lost focus after the death of mama and papa. I may have lived in silence after them but you have shown how even after Dadaji and uncle's death you had kept on going and to have the courage and go on living as nothing stops and life goes on, and the life is beautiful. But the most valuable gift I have received from you ' 'true happiness is, that comes from the simple things in life and from trying to make others happy, the more of it we give to other the more we will have for ourselves'." Wiping the tears she continued, "I can never thank you enough Ma for what you have given me. The precious lesson I have learnt from you is, for me to go on the road I have chosen and discover new horizon of knowledge and make my dream become a reality instead of just a dream."
Gently wiping the tears which kept on flowing freely down Geet's cheeks Savitri Devi said "You have been more like a daughter to me, Geet. Please don't cry, today is your big day." And to lighten the mood "do you want to with a monkey face? Now stop crying, go and get ready, guests will be arriving for pooja any min."
"Thanks Ma for all the love you have showered on me and I will try not to disappoint you. Now I will go and get ready" saying this Geet left the hall to go and get ready.
The girls decided to get Geet ready in a traditional way in a beautiful emerald green sari. Her hair was put up in a French twist while wisps of small curly tendrils graced her face. Very light makeup was applied with more emphasis on her beautiful eyes as they were kholed with lot of kajal and a light pink lipstick attracted attention to her lips. A small diamante bindi adorned her forehead. Pinky put a beautiful polki-kundan necklace round Geet's neck while Pari was arguing with Meera about the Mangtikka. Ultimately they had to accept Geet's suggestion and clipped an exquisite piece of workmanship which had lots of small bells (Ghunghroos) on it. And finally she wore the extraordinarily beautiful, Khandani earrings which were a gift from Ma.
Just as she finished getting ready Vicky came barging in the room, "Come on every one Dadima is calling for the pooja. It is about to start in few minutes" saying this he send every one out except
"Let me look at my honewali bhabhi. You look amazingly beautiful Geet. So pretty, today every one would be ghayal from your one look. You should apply a kala tika. But why are you sweating even when the AC is on?" he asked, taking hold of her hand and bringing her under the ceiling fan.
Walking towards the switch near the door, "Bhabhi, you will look like a glittering angel after you cool down from the air of the ceiling fan."
He switched on the ceiling fan and ran from there. Before Geet could comprehend what had happened she was covered from head to toe in colorful glitter and confetti.
Ahhh''' was the only word she could utter and ran behind him to catch the culprit. She should have realized the moment Vicky came in the room about the prank knowing how big a prankster he was.
As she ran behind him in the hall, she saw him go and hide behind Dev. And suddenly there was laughter all round her. Turning her eyes round the hall she saw everyone smiling or laughing at her while Pari came forward to help her remove the glitter, "You are looking like a shining fairy Geet, what happened, where did the glitter come from?"
"Oh! This Vicky bhi na. Hamesha pareshan karta rahta hai. Dekho na Ma usne kya kardiya."
"Par Geet yeh hua kaise?" Dev asked stifling his smile.
"Aap he isse puch lo. Mujhe kuch nahi pata. He came and told me to stand under the fan and all the glitter came flying about on me''''.What will I do now, pooja is about to start?", Geet cried.
"Vicky, why are you troubling Geet and how did you manage to spread glitter all over her?" Dadima asked him getting a little angry now as it will delay the start of the pooja.
"It was very easy Dadima, when no one was in the room I climbed up a ladder and stuck glitter filled thermocole glasses tilted to its side. And as soon as the ceiling fan was switched on the glitter came flying all over her." Laughingly he replied.
"Badmash, now go and help her to remove the glitter as the pooja will commence in five minutes and you girls also go and help her, please bring her to the pooja room as soon as possible."
They finished the pooja and Dev and Geet took aashirwad (blessings) of Dadima first. Then it was the turn of Maan and as soon as they bend to touch his feet, he stopped them in between hugging Dev, "Congrats Dev,
My only advice to you is to cherish what you have. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to have lust for someone-but it takes a lifetime to love someone..."
