Baapji's house
Trishna is watching Baapji's discussion with the reporters on TV while her son Ved is running around not wanting to eat the food his father is trying to give him. Trishna turns and scolds Ved for making so much noise and tells him to keep quiet as she's watching the news. Ved's father quietly takes him away.
A breaking news is shown on TV regarding Madhav refusing Baapji's rishta. Everyone is surprised to hear this. Baapji watches the video of Madhav folding his hands and respectfully declining the rishta. Baapji is thoughtful for a moment, then he smiles and and gets up and walks out of the house, leaving Trisha watching in confusion.
Aastha's house:
Laajo is berating Madhav for refusing the rishta and that they are doomed to live this destitute existence forever. Aastha returns home and watches everyone in confusion wondering what's going on. Her sister tells her that her father told the TV ppl that they can't do this rishta. Aastha talks to her father and says that they have disrespected Baapji by saying this in front of everyone instead of just telling him.
The villagers are talking amongst themselves that they cannot live with Madhav and his family disrespecting Baapji like this and that Madhav has to change his decision and apologize to Baapji. They all go to his house and say this to him and ask him to go to Baapji's house to apologize. Aastha agrees that they should do this.
They are all on their way to Baapji's house in a tractor when they meet his car halfway and stop. Baapji comes out of the car and walks over to them. Madhav falls to his feet and begs forgiveness. Baapji makes him get up and tells him that it is not right for a God to fall to his feet like this. Madhav is taken aback and says how can a small person like him be given the status of a God...Baapji replies that it's not him but Aastha who said this that her father is like God for her. Baapji then requests Madhav to let him to come to his house and sit and talk with him for a bit. He motions at Chaturvedi to take care of the rest. Laajo introduces herself to Baapji and invites him home. Baapji then turns to Aastha and asks her, 'won't you invite me home, Aastha beti?'...Aastha walks forward slowly and takes his blessings. They all head back to Aastha's house.
Baapji's house:
Baapji's wife is pulling out old saris and ornaments to give to the new bahu. Trishna asks her that shouldn't they wait for Atharva to show up before starting all this. She says that no one can tell how he will react on hearing about this. Baapji has always given him the freedom to make all his own decisions and yet such a huge decision was taken for him without asking him? What if Atharva refuses? Baapji's wife smiles and says that if he's taken the decision, then he will make his son understand as well. And Atharva respects his father a lot, and won't go against his wishes. Trishna forces a smile and then after a pause asks again if Atharva has ever even heard of the village where Aashta lives. Will he able to accept her? Baapji's wife smiles again and doesn't say anything.
The villagers feed mithaai to Chaturvedi and he keeps them occupied with some random anecdotes.
Aastha's house:
Aastha and Madhav try to clean the house by sprinkling some water around before letting Baapji step in. Baapji watches all of this with a smile. Baapji finally walks in and looks around the house. He sees his portrait and goes and stands in front of it. Aastha watches him with devotion from the side. He folds his hand and bows before the murtis of the gods right below the picture. He then starts to walk around the courtyard looking at everything. Meanwhile Madhav asks Aashta to arrange for a sitting stool but that turns out to be broken. They start to worry about where they can make Baapji sit. They then try to arrange for a chair but that doesn't work out either...finally they try to spread a sheet on a chaarpaayi for Baapji to sit. Baapji is watching all this from the side and smiles to himself.
Madhav tells Baapji in embarrassment that they don't even have a chair for him to sit on and asks him to sit on the chaarpaayi instead. Baapji smiles and instead asks Madhav if he has made all the pottery in the courtyard and says it's beautiful. Then he asks him to move the chaarpaayi in front of the pottery wheel. Madhav looks puzzled but does so. Baapji then asks him to sit on the chaarpaayi and make something on the pottery wheel. Madhav smiles and gladly agrees. However when he tries to make something on the pottery wheel, the clay keeps falling apart in his hand. He gets more and more harried and finally gives up. Baapji meanwhile watches everything with a serene smile. Finally Madhav gives up and gets up and goes to Baapji saying he doesn't know why he is not able to make diyas today. Baapji replies that that is so because he is not sitting at an equal height today. Then he says that whether it is these clay moulds or relations, they can only be made when both parties are at an equal standing. Understanding dawns on Madhav's face and Aastha looks on emotionally.
Epi ends.
