Love story on TV
Celebrity couples will reveal how they met each other and also display their affection on the new show Ishq Deewane
It's yet another celebrity caper on televison. MTV is launching its brand new weekly show Ishq Deewane on June 3, wherein every celebrity couple interviewed will reveal their true love story on screen. Towards the conclusion of every episode, lies a surprise element.
"I disagree that MTV is just another music channel. We've moved away from that image years ago. Roadies, Bakra, Fully Faltoo and Simi Girebal are just a few examples of what the channel can offer," Ashish Patil, VP and GM, creative and content, MTV.
But isn't launching a celebrity show like Ishq Deewane an attempt to boost the TRPs of the channel? "Of course! Having celebrities in a show assures viewership. Apart from the romance angle, Ishq Deewane will have a surprise element in every episode," Patil says. "Every couple will do something special for each other. It could be a romantic act or a dare-devil stunt. The idea is to surprise their partner," says Patil.
For instance, actor Manav Gohil learnt sailing to take his wife Shweta Kawaatra out on a boat. Ronit Roy's wife Neelam, a Punjabi, learnt a Bengali song to surprise her hubby. Another actor jumped from a height to prove his love (although safety precautions were taken). "I'd say that Ishq Deewane has romantic stunts. We're not making yet another Fear Factor," says Ashish Patil. The other celebrity couples who will make an appearance on the show are Gurdeep Kohli and Arjun Punj, Rajeshwari and Varun Badola.
