A sincere apology for late update 😳 .. Now a days I could hardly get any strength to do anything .. Grade 10 is so stressful with a bunch of assignments and projects all together .. But luckily this weekend, I'm free 😃 .. So here I am to update .. Thanks for all the lovely-dovely responses on my previous update .. Feels really great 😳 .. One more thing guys, I'll be inactive from IF in the next weekend .. Sorry for that 😳 .. Anyways, enjoy! 😃

Chapter #10
I Do Care For You

Deep in thoughts, Anurag was walking to his home after parking his car in the garage. He was in different world, from where he came back seeing Taani sitting on the stairs in front of the main door. Shocked and amazed, he went up to her.

"Taani, tum yaha? Itni raat ko?", he asked normally. Taani stood up. "Aap ne phone bandh kyun kiya hai? Aur aapne kaha tha ki doctor se baat karne ke baad phone karenge, kiya kyun nahi? Pata hai, main kitni worried thi?", she said on a spree with lines of worry flashing on her face.

"Sorry! Woh battery dead ho gayi thi, par tumhe itni raat ko yaha nahi aana chahiye tha. Chalo, main tumhe ghar chod deta hu.", Anurag concernedly said. "Pehele yeh bataaiye ki doctor ne kya kaha?", Taani asked seriously.

Nervous, Anurag looked to the other side and said, "Woh.. doctor ne kaha ki.. main theek hu.. Kaam ki stress ke kaaran headaches hote hai, aur kuch nahi." Something was fishy, Taani thought. She cupped Anurag's face and making him look in her eyes, she asked sternly, "Anurag, you are hiding something from me."

Facing the other side, Anurag stammered, "Hiding..? N..n..o.. I.. am.. not.." Taani felt her eyes getting wet. She held his hand and holding it tightly, she asked but this time, in a weak tone, "Plz sach bataaiye, Anurag. Mere dimaag mein bohot saare bure khayaal aa rahe hai kyuki main aapke chehre pe saaf dekh sakti hu ki aap jhoot bol rahe hai. Sach kya hai?" The question sounded firm!

Anurag turned his face towards Taani and there their eyes met, turning it into a deep eye-lock. "Taani, see, plz don't get panic as it can be treated.", Anurag said and held her hand even tighter. "Baat kya hai?", Taani asked and tears slowly flowed from her eyes. Anurag wiped them off and said slowly, "Mujhe... brain tumour hua hai."

Taani felt the earth being snatched beneath her feet. She left her grip on Anurag's hand and numbly started to step back, and Anurag, seeing her like that, was heart-broken. He knew that she'd react in this way, for this, he didn't want to inform her about his illness.

"Taani, dekho, tumour initial stage par hai iss liye operation se sab kuch theek ho sakta hai. Plz aise react mat karo.", Anurag pleaded and walked towards Taani, but seemed like, she was in her own trail of emotions in her session of stepping back while Anurag was trying to make her understand. "Taani, listen to me. I'll be fine!", Anurag said determinedly, when finally, he got hold of her and as he shook her, she came back to her senses.

Hugging Anurag as tightly as she can, Taani broke in tears, "Abhi abhi toh maine aapko paya hai, phir se khone ki himmat mujh mein nahi hai." Anurag embraced her back and caressing her hairs gently, he said tenderly, "Main tumhe mujhe khone ka chance hi nahi dunga, and plz tum itni fikar mat karo, doctor ne saaf saaf kaha hai ki operation ke baad I'll be fine. So plz relax!"

Taani immediately broke the hug and angrily said in a high tone, "Kaise chinta na karu? I love u and I do care for you damnit! Tum samajhte kyun nahi ho? Bar bar kehe rahe ho ki chinta naa karu.. tum aise kehe kaise sakte ho? Main chinta karungi kyuki yeh mera haq hai. Samjhe?"

Anurag was in awe of this sudden change in Taani's behaviour, and for a moment, he was too surprise to react. He never knew that his shy and quiet Taani could be so much angry, and that too, on him, and in this anger, how she started to address him as 'tum', made him laugh his heart out.

"Tum has kyun rahe ho? Main yaha mazak kar rahi hu kya? Ya phir tumhe main joker dikh rahi hu?", Taani asked, angry and frustrated. "Taani ji, aap gusse mein sach mein bohot pyaari lagti hai and specially jab aapne mujhe 'tum' keheke pukara, toh aur bhi cute lag rahi thi.", Anurag said with a broad smile and pulled Taani's cheeks. Taani gave an i-have-no-idea expression, until the realization came in her mind. She indeed addressed him as tum in anger!..

Realizing it, she bit her lower lip and without saying anything, entered the house. Amused and happy, Anurag followed her.
