As I watch Iccha's Godbharai, I cant help but think that despite its disclaimers at the end for supporting womens rights and protesting atrocities upon women.. etc etc...this serial keeps reinforcing the old notions that a woman's worth is synonymous with her ability to have children...they don't have to be gainfully employed...that their ticket to happiness is marrying a rich guy...and being a role model is towing the line...

palm reading, and predictions by god-men and sadhus are always correct...ill-omens like dropping pooja thalis and fertility symbols like coconuts beget bad events, and liking sweets during pregnancy predicts birth baby boys...

aaai yaaai yaaai..

yes you are right -- at the same time, they are slowly breaking the mold in terms of other beliefs

1. Rathore and veer both crazy about a baby girl. (as opposed to 'waaris' and male heir only thinking.)

Rathore celebrating baby girl's birth like crazy at the hospital and veer also telling ichcha that he wants a baby girl.

2. Veer's willingness to adopt Mukta and his reasons given for adopting -- may prompt others to think about legally adopting orphans too. There are so many babies who need a good home.

3. Jogi's eagerness to make his wrong into right by taking care of damini and ichcha. So many people just go through life after hurting others without even bothering to restitute the person they have hurt.

so true these tv people show bad part of our Indian society all the time, chota bada, caste , servant , ladka ladki bias, and make our oldies to push us to follow their rules coz its on tv so it is right ?????...what the hell???? Indian youth definitely want our culture but without this crape attached with our values.

no one is black or white but what others complaining is correct too...i liked rathore's point of view towards girl child ,we surely need this especially in small towns, sucessful girls like me ,have seen this bias in my life and hated it from the bottom of my heart...
