Geet placed her hand on top of Maan's, which was resting lightly on her stomach, saying with wonder, "I can't believe it's really true. That we're really going to have a baby."
Maan pulled Geet closer as they cuddled together on their bed. "Maybe you would find it easier to believe if you had gotten an ultrasound done. I wish you hadn't said no when I suggested it to the doctor. I wanted to see the baby."
Geet smiled at Maan's complaint, but didn't change her stance. "Maan, I'll be getting the regular 12 week scan to check the health of the baby in just two weeks. The doctor said that everything seems normal, so there really isn't a reason to get the ultrasound early. And you wanting to see the baby isn't a good reason," she added when he tried to interrupt.
Maan did a wonderful impression of JD pouting before replying, "But I'm coming with you. It my baby is getting a scan done, I'm going to be there."
"Of course," said a smiling Geet, "Mama and baby can't go anywhere without Papa with us, especially not to a doctor's appointment."
Turning slightly toward Maan, she continued, "Dadi and JD were so happy when we told them. Wasn't JD so cute when he asked how soon the baby would come, and then put his face next to my stomach, telling the baby to grow and come out soon?"
"Honestly, I knew Dadi would be ecstatic, but I didn't expect such a good reaction from JD. I was too young when Dev and Vicky were born to remember how I felt, but Dev told me how Harsh acted up those first few months after Meenal was born. I'm not looking forward to JD's tantrums."
Geet chuckled, before replying, "A few tantrums are probably inevitable. All children feel a little insecure when a new baby comes into the family. JD is excited now, but we will have to wait and see what happens when I don't have as much time for him any more. Starting first grade should help, but I'm going to expect you to take a bigger role with him. No more hiding out in your office while I deal with everything."
"When did I hide out in my office?" asked Maan indignantly.
"Ummm, let's see...You didn't even know who was taking care of JD for almost a year and a half. What were you doing that whole time, if not hiding?"
"Okay, okay," replied Maan to Geet's teasing. "I wasn't as involved as I should have been. However, now I have a better incentive not to hide in my office. If I did that, then I wouldn't be able to spend any time with my pregnant wife."
Giving Geet a light kiss on the lips, Maan continued, "I can't wait until you start showing. You are going to look adorable with a pregnant belly."
"Start showing?" questioned Geet with a frown. "Did you see how I couldn't fit into my jeans this morning? At this rate I'm going to end up looking like a whale."
"But a very cute whale," said Maan, which had Geet's mouth opening in indignation.
Even though she was the one who said it first, Geet did not appreciate her husband agreeing that she would look like a while. She tried to give Maan a whack, but he easily caught her hand. He then pulled her so that she lay on top of him, and captured her mouth with his before she could protest. It didn't take long for Maan to distract Geet from the conversation. He had just move from her luscious lips down to her neck when an unexpected distraction appeared.
"GT," called JD as he walked into the room while Maan and Geet struggled to quickly make themselves decent.
"JD, what are you doing up? You have to go to sleep. You are going to start first grade on Tuesday, so you can't stay up late any more."
"I forgot to say goodnight to baby brother," explained JD as he walked over to Geet and put his face and hands on her stomach. "Good night baby. Sleep well. GT, what will the baby look like?"
"If it's a boy, it might look like Uncle, and if it's a girl, it will look like me."
"My brother will look like Uncle," announced JD, patting Geet's stomach softly with his little hand.
"How do you know it's a brother?" asked Maan, smiling at JD's innocent talk. "It might be a sister."
"No, Uncle, it's a little brother, just like I wanted. I'm sure."
"Well, I'm sure that it's time for JD to be in bed," said Geet, even as she gave him a hug and a kiss.
"Come on, JD, I'll take you back," said Maan, holding out his hand to his nephew.
"You, Uncle?" JD questioned in surprise.
"What, I can't put you back in bed?" asked Maan in mock anger, attacking the little boy with tickles, causing him to squeal and try to escape.
Picking up the little boy, Maan remarked, "Now that there will be two little Khuranas running around, I can't let your GT do all the work."
Geet watched with a serene expression as Maan carry JD out of their room, the little boy talking animatedly to his uncle about the new baby. When Maan came back ten minutes later, he saw that his wife had drifted off into a peaceful sleep. He observed his beautiful spouse for some minutes, contemplating how fortunate he was to have her in his life. Then he joined her, pulling the covers up around them carefully, before he laid his head on the pillow. Careful not to disturb the sleeping beauty, he kissed her soft cheek, before resting his hand protectively above the place where her body sheltered their child.
...
Maan and Geet had their little boy, named Rajan Singh Khurana by his great-grandmother, on April 24, 2012. JD was very happy to get his little brother, and thanks to Maan and Geet working together, behaved like the best older brother little Rajan could ever want. Almost three years later Rajan was joined by by his little sister Ishwarya, who was a carbon copy of her mother, and her father's little princess.
Dev and Naintara decided to stay in Delhi until Harsh was ready to start secondary school and Meenal the first grade. They were also blessed by an unexpected bundle of joy who arrived just day's before his sister's birthday. The youngest Khurana, Aman, forced his parents to plan their move back to the US early, as Naintara didn't want to take the chance of going into labour on the plain ride back.
Leaving as soon as Harsh finished his school, the little family arrived and settled into their home just a few weeks before the arrival of the baby. Dadi wanted them to move into the mansion, but Dev and Maan both agreed that it would be too crowded with all of them. However, the new house was within walking distance of the mansion, so the two families would visit each other almost every day.

I know that you will all be sad that the story has come to an end. However, the title of the story, "Tum Kaun Ho", has been fully explored. Maan now knows who Geet is, and more importantly who she is to him. The identity of the killer has also been revealed. Those two things were the meat and potatoes of the story. From the wedding on, that has been the dessert, but too much dessert can spoil the meal.
As I did with Nothing Can Keep Us Apart, I will be editing/proofreading this story, and then providing it as a free pdf to anyone that wants it. As the story is so long, that may take some time, but I will pm when it is ready.
If you are interested in reading my other works, I will remind you that I will no longer send out pms from my regular id. If you want to be on my permanent pm list, add Laxmi2010pms as a buddy.
If you would like to see a preview of some of my coming stories (all on Maaneet), check out this post.
Thanks for all the praise and feedback,
Laxmi
