PART 11
The reception was the day after the wedding. Kasak and Vishal came in the morning that day. They decided to spend time with the family. While the newlyweds sat in the garden with everyone, Prem and Mukti were running around getting the hall ready for the night.
Luckily, they managed everything on time. The place was full of guests. Prem and Mukti had arranged for a performance. Afterwards, Vishal and Kasak had the dance floor to themselves for a few minutes. The DJ then asked other couples to join the floor. Mr. Bajaj asked Perna, but she asked him to wait for a minute. She walked up to Prem and Mukti, who were checking on the food.
Perna: Prem, Mukti, you guys have been working all day, why don't you two join others on the dance floor?
Mukti: But…
Perna: No buts
She forced the two to dance. This time Mukti did not look at Prem when dancing with him. Prem never wanted the music to end; he just wanted to freeze this moment. After hours of dancing, chatting, and eating everyone retired to their homes. Prem and Mukti were the last ones to leave. The weather had cooled down, and Prem notice that Mukti was shivering. He took off his coat and placed it on her shoulders. Mukti wasn't sure how to react to this gesture, so she simply did not give any response and sat in the car. When they reached Bajaj house, both Prem and Mukti stepped out.
Mukti: Goodnight, Prem.
Prem: Goodnight.
Prem did not move; he stood there watching Mukti go to her house. About halfway, Mukti realized that she had his coat on. She turned around and walked back to Prem.
Mukti: I'm so sorry…here's your coat.
Prem took the coat and as Mukti was about to walk away, he grabbed her arm and turned her towards him.
Prem: There is something I want to tell you?
Mukti (confused): What?
Prem: Mukti…I…I…
Mukti: What, Prem?
Prem: I love you.
Mukti was astonished to hear this. She never expected Prem to say the words that she was once desperate to hear. However, things had changed and she was confused.
Prem: I know that I've hurt you so much…I've caused you so much pain, and if I could, I would take it all back. I was blind at first. He did not see your love, but things have changed. I don't when and how I fell for you. I've never felt for any girl what I feel for you. When I think about how I want my future to be, I want to spend it with you. I'm not sure if I am worthy for your love, but I could not longer keep it inside of me.
Prem let go of her hand. Mukti stared at him speechless. At this point, she didn't know what to do. She slowly walked into her house without giving an answer. Prem realized that her wounds hadn't completely healed and maybe he's lost his chance with Mukti, but he felt relieved after expressing his love to Mukti.
Prem did not get much sleep that night. They next day he came downstairs and quietly sat down at the table. Perna noticed that her son was disturbed, but she didn't ask him anything.
Perna: Where's Mukti?
Sneha: Mom, I saw her in the morning. She said that she was going to Puna to visit her aunt and father.
Perna: Is everything okay?
Sneha: Yes, she was just missing them a lot.
Prem knew the real reason why Mukti had left, and Perna felt that there was something going on. She went to Prem's room after breakfast and saw him pacing back and forth.
Perna: What happened between you and Mukti?
Prem was glad that Perna asked him this question; he really wanted to talk to someone. He reiterated everything that happened.
Perna: I'm glad that you told her how you feel. However, Mukti is still recovering from her past. You have given her a huge pain, and it is difficult for any girl to trust the man, who broke her trust. Give her some time.
Prem: Thanks Mom, for everything.
Perna: You really have changed Prem…this was the first time you called me Mom instead of Mother India. I can see how much you love Mukti, and if your love is true and pure, you will be with her one day.
Prem didn't realize until now, how important mothers are. It was because of his mother that he recognized his love for Mukti. It was because of Perna that Prem had the courage to express his love. And it is because of his mother that he has some hope for his love.
Prem: I understand if she does not want anything to do with me…but I just don't know how to live without her.
Perna could see that her son was in pain. Tears were streaming down his eyes. She told him to let it out. Prem cried in his mother's lap, while Anurag was standing by the door watching.

Anurag decided not to disturb Prem and Perna. After leaving Bajaj house, Anurag headed for the airport. He took the next flight to Puna.
Mukti was reading a book when she heard the doorbell. She was surprised to see Anurag there.
Mukti: Anurag uncle, what are you doing here?
Anurag: Can I come in?
Mukti: Sure.
Anurag: Where's your dad.
Mukti: He went to the temple with my aunt.
Anurag: I've come here to ask you a question.
Mukti: What?
Anurag: Do you love Prem?
Mukti did not expect that. She figured that Anurag knows what happened, but she did not give a response.
Anurag: You didn't answer my question…do you love my son?
Mukti: Yes I do love him, but I don't think I can trust him again.
Anurag: I know what he did was wrong, but he has changed. Ever since you've left, Prem's lost all the life he had in him. I can't live a single moment without you…I understand that you are afraid to have your heart broken again, but I've seen Prem's love for you and I can assure you that he'll keep you happy…I know what it feels like to lose the person who love more than you love yourself…when I lost Perna, I lost my life. I had no reason to live except for my son. I don't want Prem to go through what I have been through. You are his life, and I'm begging you to give it back to him.
Mukti was in a dilemma. Anurag left Mukti with her thoughts. The whole night, Mukti sat on the couch thinking about Prem and what Anurag had said. She finally picked up the phone and called Prem.
Prem: Hello?
Mukti did not know what to say, but Prem could recognize her silence.
Prem: Mukti? How are you? I know that I shocked you the other day, and maybe I've lost the only chance to be with you…please, just say something.
Mukti: I want to meet you…can you come here?
Prem: I'll be there as soon as I can.
Prem reached Puna the next day. Mukti had asked him to meet her at the beach. He wandered around until he spotted her facing the water. Mukti felt his presence and she slowly turned around facing him. Prem noticed stains of tears on her face. They stared at each other for some time. Mukti noticed that Prem was tired and upset. His hair was a mess and he hadn't shaved for a few days. Most importantly, she noticed love in his eyes. Mukti couldn't fight her feelings any longer and she ran to Prem and into his arms. Prem held on to her tightly, making sure that he would never let go. Both started crying heavily, but these were tears of joy. Finally, the looked up at each other. Prem wiped Mukti's tears and kissed her forehead.
Prem: I don't want to see tears in your eyes anymore…I just want to fill them with happiness and love.
Mukti was convinced that Prem will make all her dreams true and she smiled at him. They embraced each other again. After digesting the fact that they were officially a couple, they started to take the first few steps of a new relationship. Prem and Mukti walked by the water for a long time, and Prem had his arm around Mukti the whole time. Afterwards they shared an ice-cream together and sat on the sand while the sun set. Prem finally broke the silence.
Prem: So when are we going back.
Mukti: You go on…I'll stay here a little longer with my dad.
Prem: I'll stay also.
Mukti: No, you are going back. You've already missed several days of work.
Prem: Oh come on! We just got together, and you are sending me back!
Mukti: It's not forever.
Prem: It seems like forever.
Mukti: Please, for me.
Mukti gave him a cute face, and he had to give in. At the station they hugged for a long time until the train was about to leave. Prem was about to enter the train when turned around, ran to Mukti, and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Prem: Come back soon…I love you.
Mukti: I love you too.
With that said, Prem went into the train and headed home. He told the whole family what happened as soon as he entered the house. Perna was glad to see her son with life again. She called Anurag and gave him the good news, which he shared with Sam and the rest of the family.
From that day on, Prem would call Mukti at least three times a day. With Sneha's help, who seemed to forgive him, Prem redecorated his room and office. He replaced the black and white colors of his room with bright colors. He threw out the posters of models and hung pictures of Mukti everywhere. He even asked Perna and Sneha to teach him how to make some of Mukti's favorite dishes.
Mukti was coming back the day after. However, she wanted to give Prem a surprise, so she called Anurag and told him about her idea. Anurag then invited everyone for lunch that day. The whole family went to Basu house. After a half hour of talking, his mother asked him about setting up the lunch.
Anurag: Mom, can we wait a little please. I have a little surprise for Prem.
Prem: A surprise for me…what is it?
Anurag: I'll tell you…let me make a call first.
Anurag went to one corner and made a quick call.
Anurag: Alright, so where were we.
Prem: My surprise….what's the surprise?
Anurag: Calm down. I'm telling you, I just called the airport, the plane from Puna landed a half hour ago. Mukti is on her way here…like my surprise?
Prem: Like it? I love it! Thank you so much dad.
Prem was more restless than ever. He looked towards the entrance every minute, but Mukti didn't come.
Perna: She should be here by now.
Just then Anurag's cell rang.
Anurag: Hello…yes…WHAT?
Anurag got up from shock; he seemed terrified.
Perna: What happened?
Anurag: Mukti's car met with an accident, she's in the hospital.
PART 13
Everyone rushed to the hospital where Mukti was taken. They waited patiently in front of the operation theatre. After three hours, the doctor came out.
Prem: How is she doctor…how's my Mukti?
Doctor: She had a really bad accident. We've done what we could…if she does not gain consciousness in the next twenty-four hours, then we may not be able to save her.
Prem felt as if someone took the floor from his feet. Perna held onto her son when Mukti was brought out of the room. Prem quietly followed her to her room. Once the nurses settled her, he sat down on a chair and took her hand in his.
Prem: You can't do this to me now…we've been through a lot, and you can't leave me now…I won't be able to live without you…please, you have to fight this…please Mukti come back to me.
Perna placed her hand on his shoulder, but she did not know what to say. While everyone waited outside the room, Prem sat quietly caressing Mukti's forehead.
Mukti, in the meantime, was dreaming.

Mukti is on end of the street while Prem as at the other end. Both started walking towards each other. As Prem was about to cross the crossroad, a car came racing straight at him from the side.
Mukti: Prem!
Seeing Prem in danger in her dream, woke Mukti up. She looked terrified. Until Prem held her face and calmed her down. As soon as she calmed and realized where she was, she embraced Prem. While Mukti was glad to see that Prem was alright, Prem was thankful that she woke up. In the meantime, Mr. Bajaj, Perna, and Anurag stood by the door watching the two holding each other tightly.
PREVIEW: Prem, Anurag, and Mr. Bajaj start searching for the person behind the attacks. A new character will be introduced; he will help them find the culprit.
