I'm not getting why the hell they need to HIDE this in the first place??

Why the EFF was Nando so despo to want to get married to this dude? Who was stopping them? NO ONE .. BLOODY HELL NO ONE was stopping them so why the need to get married by 12 and NOT tell anyone :S?
