Friends, I am writing brief comments today as I think Misti is busy.
It seems that there is some change in the story since yesterday. Not sure where it is going as need to see tomorrow's episode before it would be clear.
The scene continued from yesterday when villagers come just as when Dev is about to close the temple. Radhika smiles with satisfaction while Dev is stunned to see reaction of villagers. They are overjoyed that the future RP is now doing puja in the temple that has been closed for 12 years. Also they told him that they were destitute for 12 years and now good things have started happening ever since the temple was reopened by Dada (Now my question is weren't villagers angry at closing of the temple and how come BB ruled without any problems when she wasn't doing dharamsabhas or had closed the revered temple? They never showed that there was discontent on anybody's part...we used to write about this in the thread...that is the problem with this show...they never close any loopholes).
Anyway, they pay a lot of respects to Dev (touching his feet etc.) with one woman acting as Shabri (tribal low caste woman who had fed Ram fruits after tasting each one herself). Here she feeds Dev by her hands and tells him to do his duty of RP properly. Dev is slowly realizing that people really are looking forward to having a leader and he has to assume that responsibility. Radhika smiles with satisfaction and thanks Kanha that he helped her (so the sankalp was to close the doors and Dev couldn't fulfill the sankalp.) So was the shank dwani related to Radhika's intentions of making sure that Dev takes RP responsibility ? But then Dev never refused the responsibility. Even with Dada, he was saying that he wants to do all his duties - be a good RP and be a husband to Radhika. Then he had prayed yesterday to give him mental strength so that he doesn't do injustice to any.
Will the creatives ever tell what his sankalp was if it was to close the temple doors, why was he able to take it with Kanha's will? There are no conversations between leads today at all. So we don't know.
The next scene is of Radhika giving heavy RPtain clothes to Barkha who has again become dumb because she is not able to understand that Radhika is acting different (discounts it), she herself is wearing simple clothes and giving Barkha the heavy clothes suitable for RPtain. Usually I don't waste ink on Barkha or her mother, but mother seems ambitious. She wants Barkha to be RPtain but is not concerned that this would be an unmarried woman doing something immoral (adharam). So the entire selfish PF and Barkha's mother want her to take away somebody's rights and become RPtain. Barkha is strange that she is sticking around despite knowing that if she is not there, nobody can do anything. Also Barkha's jaap is of Dev doing this or wanting this or that...creatives and their silly games despite falling ratings.
Now there was a scene of Maheswari and Virat that confused me a lot. Maheswari doesn't want RP title to go to Dev even if they don't get it. So she wants to encourage Dev and Radhika's love. This is change in the story. The original will was that the property would go to trust if Dev doesn't become RP. She had reconciled herself to it and all she wanted was property. Now few days back she didn't want Radhika as Dev's wife because she wanted revenge against Radhika. So despite not liking Barkha, she was preferable to Radhika. Then until two days ago, she was talking about Virat becoming RP if Dev accepts Radhika and is rejected as RP. Now she is saying that property would go to trust if that happens...can creatives stick with one story for BB and stay consistent...BB looks for her security...why would she risk losing the cushy life just because she doesn't want Dev to become RP...Virat looks angry.. So BB's character was turned upside down.
There was no role for Rohan today but he was smirking during the ceremony as if he knew that Dev would not declare Radhika as his wife. Anyway, his and BB's goals are again clashing and they should benefit Dev. Misti calls BB Dev's guardian angel and it seems that BB is probably going to be that.
Then it is nighttime with Padma and Dai as usual talking about RP legacy getting destroyed if Dev tells the truth (these two are quite selfish and cannot think beyond their own insecurities and obession about their master-Dada).
But I liked Dev's scene in the nighttime where he is lying outside on a couch thinking about his dilemma. I am liking how they are keeping Dada and chota Dev in the story to show this connection. Dev is remembering asking Dada how to make decision if one is on a crossroad. Dada had told him to close his eyes and think of God because he is the one who can show the right path. This means that Dada in the childhood was telling him to discount society and go with one's value system. Dev closes his eyes. So it seems that Dev is not looking towards the society or family for answers. He is discounting Radhika's words too. He is going deep inside to find that strenght to make the right decision.
Meanwhile Radhika is her room and she is praying that this dark night brings a new morning that would bring happiness to the family and make things right. Her words and prayers are different. She is not asking that Dev accepts Barkha as his wife but do something that is right. So maybe the shank dhwani is for that. Even though she thinks Dev giving her up is the solution, she is asking Kanha to show Dev the right path. But the right path is declaring her as his wife publicly and then fighting the society for her rights. Is this where the story is going?...we will see in next few episodes.
Finally, the RP tilak day arrives with everyone coming in. Some women calls Radhika characterles but it seems that she didn't hear. Nobody says anything to Rohan (the hypocritical society). So why is Radhika considered characterless? What is her status in the society? Now she is openly participating in all ceremonies and is wearing sindoor and mangalsutra. So whose wife does society consider her? Lets see if we get answers tomorrow.
Dev's rajtilak is performed and he is looking grim throughout the ceremony. Radhika involves Barkha in all activities (sharing the wifely duties?). Dev is told by Mahant that he is 8th RP from this family and to maintain the legacy. BB is asking Virat whom Dev would choose. Virat gets irritated with her ( I was too as BB is now acting silly and her actions are not making sense). Anyway, Mahant asks Dev to call his wife so that they can do havan and she can be declared RPtain. Dev looks at Radhika who doesn't move and the episode ends.
I was confused with the episode. It seems to me that the story is moving towards clash between Dev and Radhika. Both are looking for the same goal and that is to maintain the RP legacy. Dev has accepted the responsibility but he wants Radhika by his side. Radhika thinks that she can't be RPtain as society won't accept her. So she is using subterfuge to get Barkha to be RPtain. But Barkha has her free will. Why would she go and sit for RP puja if she doesn't want to do so? Radhika's character is going down because she is endorsing all these adharams in name of Kanha. But if they show a consistent Dev who remains strong. Then it would be good because they can show that he shows Radhika the right path even if he alienates her in the beginning.
I will wait until tomorrow to see which way the story is going as it has changed since yesterday.
Acting wise, it was Avinash for me today. He had no dialogues in the entire episode. But his expressions -stunned realization in the beginning and then slowly acceptance that he has to be RP because people are looking up to him and then his grim expresssions in the end were too good. Ruby was good too as a determined Radhika who wants to make sure that Dev becomes RP and would go to any lengths to ensure it. She was smug and satisfied in the first part, then contrite after she left Barkha's room for doing deception and then she was anxious and then happy when Dev was crowned RP. That was her and Dada's dream and she saw it being fulfilled.
Saying all this , I still feel that the episode was disjointed because the story has gone change once again. Whenever they change the story abruptly, it loses connection with previous tracks. So I feel as if I watching a new show. The whole essence of CB is getting lost for me. Only Avinash and Rubina as Dev and Radhika kept me hooked to the show. Otherwise, there was no connection. Mansa's family came and Mansa prayed to Kanha for Dev to declare Radhika as RPtain and society accepting her. But there was no conversation shown between father and daughter. That doesn't make sense. Wouldn't Mansa try to convince Radhika that she is making a wrong decision? Even if he doesn't, he would still talk to her. There was no connection between characters whatsoever.
