Serious Issues with Masala

Indian films of the past had the habit of showing serious issues as an entertainment to audience. In late 80s and early 90s when I was a kid, I use to be traumatised watching rape scenes in Indian films. I still don't understand what was the need to include those rape scenes in the films which were not even women oriented. Families use to watch these films together and not only it use to be embarrassing but it use to be disturbing. Indian directors of 80s and 90s used rape to add masala in their films...it was disgusting of them...thank god Bollywood has totally changed now..and we don't see that crap anymore.
But the opposite had happened in Indian TV. Indian TV seriels of 80s and 90s..were so mature, dealing with serious issues. Although I don't watch any other Indian tv show except Pratigya and Maryada, in many shows I have heard, like Balika Vadhu, serious issues have been shown..but I wonder how they've dealt with them. Atleast in Pratigya, issues like eve teasing, wife abuse, forced abortions, bigamy, human slavery have been shown, but nobody has been shown punished. Shakti never went to jail for any of his crimes and neither did SS.
Now we see a child marriage happening, but instead of being disturbing, it is actually becoming entertaining for us. We're eager to see Ganga in the power game with Amma. I just hope later on CVs show Ganga being rescued and SS and Ganga's parents being punished for their crime.

Good sentiments Zooni...

But remember that this is a daily soap... one should not take it soo seriously... (the CVs are definitely NOT 😆 ) if the evil characters all get punished then the serial will be over... 😆

Whether the wrong-doers get punishment or not ... I'm sure the general public are getting the message...even if the CVs do not show proper closure of the various tracks... the viewers will definitely distinguish between right and wrong and make their own conclusions... 😛

You are so right... Small villages in third world country, crimes like this hardly get reported to the police. Even if it does they have corruption in the legal systems, molestation, bribery is a major issue. These are just some of the issues complaint faces, most of these people can't even fight back.
For instant you will need a strong person to take on the Sajjan Singh and family. Aman, father would have been such a person on the legal side. The complainer, has to be a stronger and willing person to see and fight for their rights.

who said that recent films show less crime...contrary to this films hv become crime centred now...but what is shown in pratigya is a sad reality of our society...the serial will be successful only if raises serious issues in an entertaining manner & causes social awakening...& MKAP is doing exactly this...
