Part 17
He leaned in removing the inches of separation smashing his lips against mine. My hands went up to his chest to shove him back but it was useless as my limbs turned fluid with his every touch in my mouth. His tongue savored in the taste inside asking for more. I lost the strength to put up any fight as I felt myself melting in his kiss.
I felt giddiness inside my mouth as he slowly withdrew his tongue outside. His warm breath on my cheeks started to fade. I finally inhaled when he broke apart. His mulberry taste lingered inside my mouth. A shiver ran through my entire body as I closed my eyes trying to comprehend the new sensation that had just hit me hard.
An awkward silence hung in the air. They slow beats from the disc above silently played in the background.
"Nupur ...I...this was...well I do not regret what just happened between us. I...I don't know...Nupur are you listening?
Taking my silence as approval he continued.
"Look I know this was not meant to happen but I lost it. I lost the control I was holding. You have no idea how hard I have been fighting this. Don't know if it's what you call love or anything but there exists a quirky feeling inside me. Seeing you dance close with Aman disturbed me. You know you aren't my kind. You are Miss two goody shoes. Sweet but not that what I was looking for. Completely different. Even bit of boring. But all this is crap...inspite of everything I cannot deny myself that I am attracted to you, your beautiful smile, the way you twitch your nose when you get angry, the way you pout when I try to flirt...all those little things you do. You amaze me when you can look inside the facade I put up and see the real me."
"I am not sure if it can last but unless we give this a chance, how'd we know? Nupur I know I am sounding unsure but there is something which I know for sure that I can't stay away from you."
"Nupur?"
He patted me gently on the shoulder to get me back from my reverie. I opened my eyes.
"You meant every word you just said?"
" Yes I..."
"Can you do anything for me Mayank?"
"Of course Nupur. This is..."
"Then please leave me alone."
"Nupur."
He hoarsely whispered my name. But the grip on his fingers on my arms slackened. I broke free from his clutch and went inside my car. I ignited the engine and left.

" So finally in the end he kissed you?"
"Yes Dia."
"And you kissed him back."
"What? No way! I did not respond back."
"You kept your mouth hanging open for him to kiss comfortably. The Nupur I knew would have punched him back in response."
"How can you blame me? I was in complete state of shock."
"Once the shock wore off why you did not blacked his eyes then?"
"It was my first time! And things did not go the way I thought it will in such a situation. I wanted to punch him but I was totally unnerved."
I winced as I remembered how helpless I had turned on his kiss. I had given in to my much held-back craving at last and had lost sense of the moment.
"Now what you plan to do?"
" I want revenge."
" Dear, they don't hang boys there for kissing a gal. He will surely not even land in lock-up if you lodge complain of harassment. He will simply say it was with mutual consent since you kissed him back."
" I did NOT kiss him back!! I hate that jerk!"
"Last time you told me you find him a nice guy. Why this sudden turn ?"
"Dia please help me what should I do now?"
I tried to avoid the topic that Dia raised. I had not told her or anyone about my hopes that I had from Mayank at first and the ensuing rejection I had faced. Looks like I'll be taking this secret with me to my grave.
"Well he bit you hard on the lower lip. You kiss him this time but harder. He'll get why are you angry over his kiss."
"Dia!"
"Okay seriously now. Nupur first you need to sort out your priorities. Come out clean with what you exactly feel for him. You can't fight him on one side and keep kissing him on the other side. That won't work."
"Huh? I'm not getting you."
"For starters you ran away after his confession."
"Confession? That was more like out of pity he blabbered all that stuff."
"You are being harsh on him. Poor guy. I feel sorry for him. He laid out his heart for you which you mercilessly trampled. Guys like him even saying close to such stuff is a wonder in itself."
"He can keep those wonderful things to himself. You did not hear him. His love is full of arrogance. He thinks he belittle himself for having any such feelings for me. What will I do with such love which is devoid of respect? I don't want his love out of pity for me.
" Finally I got your pint. You feel he has too much pride in him to love you the way you desire. I really wish you get your true knight in shinning armor real soon."
"I don't need a shinning knight to rescue me. I can fight my own battles. I just want him there by my side on the battlefield when I am fighting."
" I pray all your dreams come true Hon. You deserve...Ouch!!"
"What happened Dia?"
" Ian..Stop it...Stop!...Sorry Nupur, It's Ian troubling me. Anyways where was I?
"Shit. I am so sorry Dia. Ian will kill me for disturbing his honeymoon...carry on wicked lady!"

Aunt Rita walked in through the door with her shopping bags."

"Superb. They gave me 20% discount on this Channel dress at Martin's. But hey where is Aman? He did not return with you?
I had completely forgotten about the drunk Aamn in the disc. I sighed wondering how to explain and leave which parts out on what happened tonight.
